    title filled out years ago

In Oregon, they do add a charge per month that the title transfer is filed late. I think it tops out at 6 months or so, so it wouldn't continue to add up. I would search your state's website for fees and see what it says. I don't think the address matters as long as the buyer signs off on a...

1936 DiamondT meets 1978 Dodge motorhome

I drove it on the road for the first time!!! It went well. No problems. Steering was about what I expected for a motorhome chassis converted to a ratrod. Brakes were good. Gotta play with the proportioning valve, I think the rear brakes are not doing enough, the front brakes locked in the...

Welding on a commercial truck frame ????

Help. I am now wondering if the 1978 dodge m400 chassis used hardened steel or not. I stripped it down and didn't see any warnings on it not to weld. How can I tell if it was hardened? I think I saw that they started using hardened steel in the 90's. anybody know?

1936 DiamondT meets 1978 Dodge motorhome

Finally got the brakes working. I had mistakenly run the lines from the master to the wrong ends. (flipped back for front:( ) Now that it's straightened out, i got the lines bled (again) and it works well. I went ahead and got insurance lined up for Saturday. first test run then. I'm...

    soft pedal?

thank you to all who are helping. I went back through the directions and realized that I had reversed the lines from the master cyl. oops. (embarrassing, but I'll post it on here for others to learn from my mistakes:) I had seen diagrams that showed the front brakes coming off the back of the...

skull, Yes, I do have the residual valves on the front and rear. ZZrodder, you may be right about the master from the motorhome being a larger bore. the overall size of the master looked the same, but the bore may have been larger. I'm pretty sure it's been scrapped:( but I'll take a look...

pulled one of the drums. the shoes look nearly new. the slave cylinders looked fine. I don't think that was the problem. So, I re bled the master and got no bubbles, so it doesn't seem like that was the problem either. I'm thinking that there is an air bubble/pocket stuck somewhere in my...

    soft pedal?

I pulled a drum off the rear axle and the brakes look good. almost new as a matter of fact. there is a full 1/4 inch of pad on the shoes, doesn't look like there is any wear. and the slave cylinder looks good. So, I went ahead and re-bled the master cyl. it didn't seem to have any...

closed and nearly closed the proportioning valve doesn't seem to make a difference. I am going to bench bleed the master now. I've got a couple lines that I can thread into the bottom of the master and they are bent around to empty into the reservoir. I'm hoping that takes care of it.:(

    soft pedal?

Kurt, If I pump it 2 or 3x the pedal gets better and the brakes do work. it does maintain some pressure and stop. Just not good enough for me to hit the road:eek::eek: Although I do have a mechanic that's not too far. Does pedal firming up some after several pumps indicate air in the lines...

    soft pedal?

I have not even had the wheels off the axles. So I'm assuming that the pads are adjusted ok. ? it seemed to work fine with the motorhome when I drove it home, so I didn't even think to pull the wheels and check the drums. I got new hoses for the front. The frame passthrough fitting is...

    soft pedal?

bleeding Kurt I'm not sure how I would bleed it at the residual valves. Wouldn't it pull air in between pedal pumps. Or would I need to use a vacuum pump? would it work to just cover the end of the line with my finger?? when the pedal was coming off ? I have lots of helpers to pump the...

frustration level rising Ugh. can't get the brakes working right. spongy pedal. questioning the master cylinder. or the adjustable proportioning valve? I used a master cylinder from Speedway. residual valves on the front(2psi) and rear (10psi) and a adjustable prop. valve on the rear. I...

    soft pedal?

I'm having trouble getting m brakes working right. the pedal is very soft, it goes to the floor, but stiffens up if I pump it a few times. It's a new master cylinder, disc front, drum rear. Brakes are from a 78 dodge motorhome. The master is a dual master from Speedway. I have residual...

1936 DiamondT meets 1978 Dodge motorhome

plate assigning the plate was simple, I just took it in with me when I hauled the ratrod up to the dmv. When they filled out the paperwork, I told them I wanted the plate on it. it has lifetime registration. no stickers. I am very excited to get it on the road. Getting all the loose ends...
