    repairing/priming sandblasted body panels

I do it the old school way: Things to remember: Primer is porous, it sucks moisture. Bondo on bare metal, after you use a torch to flash the moisture off the metal. You can actually see it run away from the flame. I use a product called "Ospho" it's some great stuff. You can actually let it set...

Got a ticket the other day that was bogus

Can't help you on this one, but: A few years ago, like 10 or 20. This judge and a crooked lawyer friend were at a party. Needless to say, they left snockered. The judge was driving and got pulled over by the local county sheriffs deputy. The cop figured to cut them a break being as to who they...

    Brass/copper Brake Lines

Spray can of brass rustoleum will do the trick. Take the rubber off and spray the hold down clamps also. It would look great against the black frame.

    Liquid metal

Two products come to mind. I used them both. Having lived in Fla, I know what you are up against. #1- All metal. #2- Aluma lead. Both work like bondo, but be forewarned They work extremely fast, as they set up quick. Sand them down, just like bondo. I was told that after the All metal sets up...

    Rust and oxide removal

I got to agree with Sneakysnake. Ospho does wonders. It also turns rust back into Iron. I wouldn't be without it. When I lived in Fla, I stripped a roof on a 57 Chevy. Coated it with Oshpo. It was 2 weeks later before I could get at it again. The roof was still shiny. Oh yeah, The car was parked...

    paint question

Ahh, I just remembered. Back in the day I painted my 58 Chevy truck a nice medium blue. I used the famous Globemaster rattle cans. It turned out great. A week went by and the paint turned to a really cool powder blue. Literally. Lean up against it and your clothes were powder blue also! I got...

    Power window motor

Are the Ford units sort of flat or narrow? Are the GM ones round? The Ford ones I used gave me the clearance I needed. I want to put power windows in my 31. I have to take everything apart and see what's what. I like using the original crank mechanism and track arms.

1928 Ford PU door glass question

I found this on the AA forum. It may give you some insight on how to do this. http://forums.aa-fords.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1120&p=11809&hilit=door+glass#p11809

    paint question

I'm pretty sure you can. When I worked for Meyers in the paint dept, I mixed up some odd ball concoctions at the customers request. I do know if you want a whiter white, you add some black to it. With mixing the gloss and flat, you might come out with a satin, or a semi gloss. But....Mix like...

Novel idea for a battery box!

All this interesting talk about hidden master switches and the like got me to thinking. Would a regular toggle switch of any kind, hooked up to a solenoid work? It it would, there would be no need to run the battery cable inside the cab. I know the old Ford solenoids are used in a variety of...

    Dan's 1939 Plymouth PU

Gasser, I can relate to your welding technique. I was taught how to braze cast Iron the same way. Heat the whole area, let it cool a tad, when it burns you after you touch it 3 times, then lay the braze to it. I used this same method brazing a bronze shaft to black well pipe. Nice build. Pray...

    Power window motor

Sorry, no pics. If this old brain remembers right, I just removed the crank with the gear portion and bolted the Ford unit on the other side of the regulator. The reason I had to use the Ford unit was because it was the only one that would fit between the regulator and window glass.

1928 Ford PU door glass question

Good question. I never thought of it. I have a 31 that needs a drivers side door glass. Guess I might run into the same problems. Hope someone on here knows.

    New section... Shop/Garage/Tool

Man, if you have the room, you will never be sorry. Many the day I wished I didn't have to bend over to do something. Much harder to get up off the ground these days.
