Backwards déjà vu (uv ejad?) I did the same on my 38 Desoto frame 5 years ago. Was going for a bit of an industrial look, but I've never really been sold on it... ZZ's looks a lot better, maybe the proportions are different enough that it looks a little more fitting?

When we build rear-engine rockcrawlers we cut the steering knuckles off the axles, flip the whole lot upside down and weld the knuckles back on. Usually have to move the rear diff right to one side (one very short axle tube) to clear the engine/trans. They end up slightly weaker as you are now...

I am a cabinetmaker who uses the metric system. Our CNC gear is accurate to 0.01mm. However, my eyes are only accurate to about 2mm :D

Looks real good. Out of curiosity, what do you plan to use to grind/sand the internal corner under the window once the welding is finished? I always have trouble getting internal welded seams to look right... The joint between the window frame (white paint) and infill strip (new steel) in...

Did the shafts slide in easy? Sometimes when you shorten a housing without an alignment bar, they're a bit fiddly to get in. The seals generally don't last very long on those ones :D
