    thanks mac for the info,hoping I don't have cut up the firewall,was hoping someone on here has done one of these and could give me a little info as to how much I would need to set the firewall back ahead of time before installing motor/trans.,but I may ne able to use that measurement and mock it...

    I'm doing a 41 ply. coupe for a customer,putting heidts front end in it, using a 318/727 trans combo,motor is at machine shop and so is trans, if anybody has done one of these with small mopar motor, can I get an idea of how much firewall set back i need? would like to keep moving on this...

    I would do that except the starter drive is moved by the foot pedal to engage it to the ring gear,so remote solenoid wont help me. need a starter with internal driven bendix with a remote or starter mounted solenoid. thanks guys.

    im converting a 41 Plymouth over to 12v.,im looking for a starter to replace this one,flat 6 with 3 speed. owner wants to get rid of the foot pedal and go to key switch for starter. anybody been down this road? any help would be appreciated, im sure somebody has done this.thanks ahead of time,bruce.

    yes the are,but if you look around,there are some short ones that exit toward the rear if thats what your looking for,but the center dump block huggers gives you a lot of room,and they are fairly inexpensive,look on craigslist,been some pretty good buys in the area.hope this helps.

    got a friend that was building a bucket roadster that had that problem,i swapped the steering arms side to side and ran the tie rod out front of the axle,that took care of the problem for him,and did the same thing on my 47 that im building,plus it gives me a place to put the front license plate...

    hey gold03,the u-bolts are off set to line up with the holes in axle,the spring is narrower than the pad on the axle.lol,sorry i ddint get back earlier,but i lost you,i like the build by the way,im doing a 47 ford p-up with a underslung frame.keep up the good work,i love this site,all you guys...

    the u bolt's not broken,they are offset,i have a couple of sets just like them.
