    Moon Disc Question

Very recently got a 51 Stude pickup that has complete drivetrain from 68 Toronado. It has stock wheels, 6" wide with 6 3/4" backspace. It has the stock small beauty rings. I'm thinking the spun aluminum moon discs would be way cool on this. I see they make "deep dish" style. For extra clearence...

    Mopar question

The water pump gives it away. It's whats known as an "Industrial" series. The heaviest duty they made. Big trucks, motor homes, generators, irigation pumps, even seen them in aircraft tugs. some had mechanical governors. The main diff was the cooling system. If it's in good shape you could run...

    Building a V-16

I'm pretty much set on XHD double row chain for coupling the cranks. They should soak up the few thousands you mention. Ivo used it for years. Of course I don't know how often he replaced gears and chains. When I make the coupler chain I'll make two and carry a spare! On the 370,630 recall you...

    Building a V-16

Agreed. I was just glad I didn't have to pay to get all that hauled away! Been doing lots of measuring and working a plan. I know I have to get the crank centerlines perfect. Had a brain flash. The main saddles with no bearings are 2.940". Get straight piece of 3.0" od drill stem and turn it...

    Building a V-16

Yes, it had double deck tool boxes full length plus a deck above that. Down the middle it had racks for about 20 ladders and even a bunch of tubes for long hooks. Firemen are like cops, they want to carry one or two of everything in the catalog. All that and the massiveness of the ariel ladder...

    Building a V-16

Quick update. finally got it down to bare frame. Got it with no eng. or trans. and have cut right at 14,000 lbs. of steel, brass, & copper off it. Bought chassis form a 2001 international 4300. Took complete front axle and suspension and got it mounted. Going to the newer power steering box...

    L600

Wanna see one done?? Same idea with motorhome but kept stock frame and used motorhome suspension. Only WAY shorter. I've actually driven it. Way better than you might think. www.themoprdude.com click on L600.

    392

I agree on the florida deal, except for the small matter of 3k plus miles away from me. I'll keep my ears open. Never know when something will fall out of the sky. 1st & 2cnd gen Hemis really generate ghost stories. Least I've seen this one.

    392

Well.... with this feedback it almost makes the $1200 that he wants for it look a little better. Got enough other projects going and a 1st gen Hemi isn't in the works right now. But I have been considering investing in some precious metal. I don't see anything happening that will make the price...

    392

Found a 392. It's the right casting #. It's a bare block with main caps, period. Standard bore, no cracks, never been raced, supposedly came out of big Chrysler. What's it worth?? He started out about double what I had in mind. What's reasonable? Thanks, Neal.

Down to it now! Repurposed outrigger foot into jack stand prototype, gussets to follow.

    Building a V-16

Mo bangin. That's over 1k# of tool boxes in background. The turret ring was crazy. Over an inch thick, machined grove with about 3/4" steel balls. Those cages that hold the balls are bronze. Turned out another groove on the bottom of ring w/ 1/2" balls. 210 on top 360 on bottom. Nobody can say...

    Building a V-16

Little update. Ladders in a pile now. 3 different size cables running thru them. The rollers were brass stantions w/aluminum rollers. Going to be interesting how much brass and copper come out of this deal. There is nothing hoeky on this truck. built hell for stout. Will make good base for what...

Find a Hemi yet? I keep trying to track down the ghost '92 that's supposed to be hiding around here. Ever find it I'll holler.

    Building a V-16

Yeah, that's a possibility. Afraid it's out of the budget. Concentrating on the low and midrange capabilities of this engine, meaning stock iron cylinder heads and valve gear, mild cams, I think I can keep the cost down. BIG torque, really cool exhaust notes, unusual combo are primary goal. Dual...

    Building a V-16

Yes, I am considering timing them straight up but as a last resort. I'm thinking I can get them balanced and timed and tune real close. One tip I've gotten that should help is to put a flywheel on the front engine to absorb some balance instead of transferring it to the snout of rear engine. I'm...

    Building a V-16

Quick update, got the monster home! No small feat. Gonna strip it to bare frame and cab. That's saying a hell of a lot in one sentence. This thing came w/ 4spd trans. and was converted to auto somewhere along the line. Monster retarder and huge emergency brake added. Gobs of extra metal added...

1/4 mile @ a time, I could see it. I'd like to be able to go as far as I can afford gas. Neal.

    Building a V-16

8liter, luckly I'll have same firing order. That's just the math I needed! the 135* deal is what I needed to know. I plan to put both engines on a run stand and tune them very exactly the same. Fresh o-haul I can get them to start in 1 or 2 piston strokes. I'm thinking with modern high powered...
