    What wheels?

I am starting to shop around for components for a rat-rod project. So far the only item I have is a 9" Ford axle with a Detroit Locker spool. But it is a start. I plan to use a 130-1940's truck cab with a shorty bed. Probably build my own frame. I like the idea of using a Buick straight-8...

Motor mounts 1976 1 ton Chev

Okay, I admit this is a little bit off-topic but not too far off I hope. I am trying to figure out how to restore a 1976 1 ton Chev pickup that the previous owner cobbled together. It now has a 454 engine in it which I doubt was the original motor. When trying to fit the rear transmission...

    Recommendation for suspension book?

Anyone out there have a recommendation for a hot rod suspension book that details the options, pro and cons of different approaches? I am not interested in a beginners book that tells me shop practises. I already have two suspension books but they are more road-race type of references...

Cutting and welding Ford I-beam axle

Anyone know if the Ford split I-beam front axle on light duty F-series trucks can safely be cut to shorten and the re-welded. I think this is just a heavy steel forging without any specific heat treat but I am not sure. Thanks. Randy

    Ford F-100 twin I-beam

Hi all, Thinking of building a retro rod and thought of using a Ford F-100 truck chassis. I have a 1975 Ford F-100 with the twin-I beam front suspension and while looking at it tonight it seems damn heavy even for a low capacity F-100. Ford does build their trucks tough! Anyone know what...

    Who built this?

Hi all, New guy here. Can anyone tell me more about this car? I used to have the builders web site saved but somehow lost it. Thanks!

    Howdy, new guy here

Hi all, I am considering building a retro-rod or rat-rod based on a Buick straight 8 engine. Not exactly sure what it will look like but probably something similar to Brian Thomas's car except with a pickup body. Hope to glean some good advice and tips here. Thanks. Randy
