    Beautiful start to the project. So did the suspension woes you mentioned happen to involve the trailing arms solid mounting to the axle, cause a bind (tendency move in unison) when the axle moves over uneven ground? I wondered about that causing lots of twisting of the frame and stress on...

    Has anyone here done a Half leaf front suspension?

    Yep, Quarter elliptical is exactly what I had thought of, Four link, and solid mounted springs that slid on the axle,in a pocket(the pocket was to provide the same control as a pan hard bar. Never used the idea, we brought it up as a possibility, and thought many deferent styles that could work...

    Has anyone here done a Half leaf front suspension?

    I've tossed the idea of a Half leaf , straight axle, front suspension around for a project vehicle before. I ended up not doing it at the time for cosmetic reasons. But knowing the inventive people we have here... What have you done and what does it look like...[P

    Thanks for the welcomes guys... ehhh... All I have is parts for a stude. There are some 53 projects in the family. And I will own 53 to 55 sooner or later. As far as picts, I need to get some but never have... the current 4' drifts of snow really hamper that idea. :mad:

    welding/fabrication table

    Looks like a trailor to me! 80's gm front wheel drive cars have the rear spindles you can bolt to your table legs. Keep the wheels underneath the table on a stud for storage. Jack up the table, mount the big tires on the rear and hook the front on your receiver.[ddd

    Different.... I like to think a little different.... by the looks of top chop you should have no problem with a mid 50's Gm truck hood blended and reshaped to your taste... maybe... ah ... I don't know... a corvair header (grill) for the lower filler... By the time you narrow the the rear...

    I'm thinking :rolleyes:55 Stude conastoga wagon. Maybe fill the rear glass in like a delivery. Keith Black blown big cubes, a lenco trans, a 9" , semi gloss black with gulf service logos on the panels.

    I stumbled across this board while doing a little research on Stude stuff. Looks like a good place to learn and ask questions. Currently getting nothing done but repairs, the weather here is too cold for much else...
