    Hairpin question?

I have used the top design with no problems. It is easier to form and less welding. FWIW , I made mine out of 7/8 solid. It was cheaper and sure stronger. Very little extra weight. I had the holes drilled and the tap started on a lathe.

Machine Shop Ruined My Buick Drums

I am sorry for your trouble. I would not trust the machinest to put new linings in the drums. They were cast in place and I think there are ridges that lock them from turning. The aluminum will get hot and try to expand away from the liner thus loosening it. The liners were iron and I don't know...

Machine Shop Ruined My Buick Drums

I am new here but one thing I know a lot about is machining the Buick drums. The whole thing the machinist was trying to do was wrong. You do NOT!!! remove any of the lining. The only thing that is correct to remove is the aluminum. If you remove lining the shoe will over hang the drum by a half...

    Offsetting master cylinder

I have a bellcrank thing under one car. It turns the push 90 degrees and the master cylinder is on the pass side. Another car has the master cylinder forward next to the frame . The brake lever has the arm on top and it pushes forward. This is nice as you can check the fluid without pulling the...

    Buick brakes?...

Check the boundary between the liner and the aluminum on the drums. They can corrode real bad and warp so that they can not be turned. When machining, do not cut any of the lining. Only the aluminum that interfers with the backing plates. If the lining is cut,the shoes will overhang the drum...
