Data's '79 Ford F-150

I've got a 1979 Ford F-150 with a 400. Since I'm not super knowledgeable about cars, trucks, etc. I thought this would be a good project to start with.

Transmission: Automatic (Sadly )

It needs lots of love, I'm looking at replacing parts of the doors, window is shattered on one side. Both doors don't work, locks don't work, 4-Wheel Drive is a MAJOR pain to get into. Steering wheel column has lots of play. My pen flash light is more powerful than my headlights, and my headlights are more powerful than high beams.

I want to put a 4 Barrel Carb, new Intake Manifold, and ditch the manual choke (Sorry, Car ID10T here). According to my brother, I won't need a lift kit to put 35s on it. I do have a question; Keep the Bench Seat or Get buckets?

The purpose of this project is to learn, have a back up vehicle, going camping/taking a girl out to watch the stars (I'm a dreamer, ), pull a boat/trailer when needed and to pull my brother out or rescue him when he gets stuck in his 96 Ford F-150.

Any suggestions, comments or concerns.

The motorcraft 2 barrel is supposed to be a better off road carb if you ever do any climbing/steep terrain. Research it before you swap. You give up some peak horsepower, but it stays running when you need it.

Keep the bench seat but throw a seat cover on it. Keeps the old yellow foam off your pants.

Well, I'd still like to get rid of the manual choke. Makes it a major pain trying to start it in the winter. I may end up driving this for the entire winter, so I'd like to get a good portion of work done with it.

Yeah, what I meant was, replace the bench seat with a new one (if possible) or get buckets. I was going to look at see if I couldn't get it re-done by an upholstery shop. I love the green paint, when all is said and done, I'm going to have it repainted the same color.

As for terrain around here, most of the hills are paved or gravel roads. If I go deep into the mountains, that's where things get sketchy. Last time I went out with my brother, we had the road slide out from under us. Heavy rainstorm washed away the base. We had 2 jeeps, and a chevy pull us up. Was fun, I lost 10 years of my life when my heart rate jumped. I'll keep posting pictures as I go.
