Good luck, finding lettered Y-block tappet-covers, JB.
They are very rare up here. I've only seen one pair of Mercury ones at a car show and maybe two pair of Ford ones. ---- And I have my eye out for anything Y-block.

Same here. I really have no need for more y-blocks, especially being as young as I am, but I have a weird fascination with them. Probably why I have a Lincoln 317 Y sitting in the shop on a stand that needs a complete overhaul but it’ll cost more than it’s really worth. Aside from the cool factor.

Glad everyone else agrees with the black. The biggest thing was making the woman happy with it.

Finished up the overflow tank today. Then installed a vent in the fuel tank. Tomorrow I’ll get the piece above the windshield made and then I can work on the windshield frame. Should keep me busy until more parts show up.

Over the last few days, built an air cleaner, replaced the glass fuel filter with a Holley 100micron, checked my wiring, found a piece of hose that fit as perfect as you could ask for the upper radiator hose, and got my carb linkage sorted out proper. Need to make a lower radiator hose, get my oil filter sorted out, fill her with fluids, replace the battery, and she’ll be ready to fire up. Only thing really left to do to make her driveable is Bleed the brakes and get a piece of glass cut for the window and mirrors. I have to say, in 9 months, this is the quickest any of my builds have gone to this point. I’ve been talked into going to Rat City again in April so she’s gotta get registered and insured by then.

Looks really good JB, you build a car in 9 months and some of the design changes on mine took 9 months. :D[cl[cl[P [P

It’s funny you mention design changes. Most of the design hasn’t changed a bit on this car. I had a vision in my head on how I wanted this car to look and I’ve pretty well nailed it. I’m sure it’ll get all the shock factor that I’m looking for without going overkill on the “rat” appearance.

I agree with you JB, I don't like the really rough 'over-kill rat' look, when a car can look quite pleasing with 'out-of-the-box' additions and no shine. You have 'nailed' the latter. Keep on tinkering.

Glad to see you replaced the filter, that Holley one will serve you much better.

It's looking great, I wouldn't think you should have any trouble getting it running and roadworthy before April.

Got a good chunk of the windshield frame built over the last couple of days. Need to decide if I want it to swing out or not. Got a template for the glass made and sent it to the closest glass shop, should be done in a few days, should be.

Oil filter relocation came in on Thursday and got it installed today. Just need to prime up the oil system and she’ll be ready to fire up. Got the windshield frame finished up this afternoon. Took a few tries to get the slides to be just right but they turned out nice(enough.) And lastly, because it’s Saturday, time for a new side shot.
