Decided I needed some more pop on the interior. Now, normally I don’t throw a lot of excess crap onto my cars to make them stand out. They do it on their own but for this one, I decided to try and add more details to it. So, spent a few hours bending the shifter into the right shape to fit around the transmission tunnel. Then the next day, spent a few hours cleaning up some more chain and lying them over the tunnel to hide some of the welds. Then because I thought it looked funky, I added a few more strips of chain. Next on my list of things to do is finish up the bit above the windshield so I can mount my dome light and windshield wiper. Once I have that I’m going to move onto the windshield frame. Much like my other cars, I didn’t have a frame to go off of so it’ll be a one off piece and I think you all will like what I have in mind.

Not a whole lot going on up here in the not so bitter north lately. Got some more parts delivered(carbs, linkage, some other junk) and some other stuff on order(headers and an oil filter relocation kit.) Machine shop called this morning letting me know that my heads were ready but because i have to work early today and they’ll be closed until after the holidays, it’ll wait until after the new year. So merry Christmas and happy new year everyone. May 2020 be just as exciting as 2019. I have a feeling some big things are coming for the entire Ratrod community.

Well guys, heads are back from the machine shop, driveshaft is balanced, carbs are sitting in the living room, exhaust is scheduled to be delivered on Monday, and the ignition system is sitting in the living room as well. Gonna tackle the engine this weekend and get the mock-up engine swapped this weekend. Not a whole lot left to do before it’s go time.

Got the heads on yesterday. Adjusted valves this morning and sand blasted the valve covers for paint. Need to throw them in the dishwasher to clean but apparently I forgot to run the dishes last night so I’ve gotta do that first. Pulled the engine and trans from the car once all that was done. If all goes well, should be putting the engine back in this coming week. First I want to trim some of the spare metal bits from building the trans tunnel and floor though.

Looks really good JB. I'm usually getting the evil eye when I pull parts out of the dishwasher....maybe it makes a difference if it's for her car?? LOL.

Well, I pay the bills and replace things as needed so she can’t b!tch too much. Normally I take parts to work and use the parts washers there but I decided to take a long weekend and wanted it done so the dishwasher was the best solution.

Anyhow, got the valve covers painted along with the block and heads. Normally I wouldn’t paint a thing but the engine will definitely be a focus point for the front end. Once the valve covers are dry I’ll put them on the engine and do the finishing touches. You’ll just have to wait and see what I have planned. Also finally got around to modifying the gear selector on the transmission.

And just so you guys and gals down south know, this time of year I’m jealous of you. Spent the first 2 hours today trying to get my kerosene heater to work before I called it quits and went to my much smaller backup heater. Really need to get heat out in the shop. That’ll be another project for this summer.
