41 Chev front I beam axle

Hi,

Can some one please tell me if there are different sizes
in Chev front I beam axles, what I mean by this is say
a 1 ton pick up front axle the same size as a 3 ton Chev
truck front axle (is it the same casting/forging or is the
truck much heaver duty casting/forging)
My thinking is all the weight is over the back wheels
so the axles may be the same size but not sure.
If no one knows may be some one could point me in the
right direction to ask some one else.

I don't have a specific answer to your question but you might pose your question to this place, http://droppedaxles.com/ . The owner was a member over at KB but I don't remember his user name. Since you are a member over there, you might be able to figure it out. KB member coolerthantheman used this place to drop an axle, so he may able to steer you toward the user name.
