If they were going on Coppertop, I'd suggest copper rivets.

These things are an amazing work of art. Love 'em! [cl

Have you ever thought about doing realistic looking viking helmets? :)
Sorry.... Seriously they look great....[cl

No, but I did consider a brassiere!

Actually, my little girl that will be two next week, walked through the garage and spotted one of these. She picked it up, and put it on her head like a hat. She thought it was great.

Lots of work today. I made bezels to hold the lenses. I took some 1/8 by 1 inch flat steel, and cut it to 16.5 inches. I heated it and bent it into a circle, and forge welded the ends together. Then I had a truck axle in a vise, and used the flange end to shape them over.

You're having way too much fun with this. Lookin' good. [cl

Thanks Skip. There's more. I used some other flat stock, 7/16 I think, to make flanges for the lenses to seal against. I brazed them on using silicon bronze wire and a TIG torch. This was my first time TIG brazing. It was interesting.

I agree with snopro. No doubt you will think if something interesting.

Did you include a drain hole? I know they won't rust out in our lifetimes, but hey, the next guy might appreciate it.

I have a plan. I thought about using set screws, I thought about hooks, but I was trying to think of something less refined. I decided to try something a little bit ehh, unnecessary. I hope it turns out. I should have some pics before the weekend.

Each page needs some pictures.
This is 1/2 in rod. I brought the end down to 5/16, and bumped the cone shaped area up to almost 3/4, and tapered it to a point.
