I go hot and cold with this part of my tinkering life...love these old heaps until I have to drive them on the roadways...then I sell them...but here is Dave Whitcomb...a 1948 CJ2A Willys Jeep....been in the same family since 1957....my goal...get it to run and move...
keep all the crustiness...
I tried to do a 4 link rear end assembly in my current heap and I just could never get it to sit square in the chassis no matter what I did...finally called the fine folks at Posie Spring company and bought a leaf spring set up...kinda hard to screw that up...and don't know...the right side...
Glad you had a near miss...the older I get the less I enjoy driving...
When I was a kid it was way more fun than now...too many more cars on the road and too many morons as well...

I thought I would bring this thread back to the top...
Been in the same family since 1957...I got the nod to adopt the old man...he is a 1948 CJ2A I named Dave Whitcomb after the owner who in 1957 bought a service station in the Syracuse NY area and kept it until he died...
here it is back in...
Keeping track of all the junk with wheels on them...can be a daunting task...I just picked up a 1948 Willys flat fender...hoping that will keep me busy for a little while....fix things that need to be fixed...no restorations for me...new fuel lines...brake lines too...lots of metal work of...
So I was on the road for a month...so now I get back and I start nosing around the Jalopy in the garage...blew a couple more fuses on it...called for help...we actually got it to turn over last night...probably the first time in probably 30 years...I was stoked...
So....ordered more parts...went...
I remember my mother and my father too talking about growing up in the 1930s and how they didn't know they were poor as everyone around them had nothing...my dad would talk about getting used tires from the junk yard during the war because you could not find new ones...
So we lived pretty...
When I first me my wife in 2008 she was out in the garage all the time....she sounded like she was into cars a lot more than she really was...then I put a ring on her finger and I don't see her at around the shop any more...
She does not care what I do as long as I keep the bills paid...
Boy do I agree with that statement...if I never had to drive again I would be ok with that...I hope they have self driving cars perfected before I leave this realm. I would love to punch in an address and the vehicle drives you there...now that would be fun...sorta like the old Star Trek...
Oh Junker
So sorry to hear about your wife passing away...keep diggin away buddy you can do it...you have one of coolest builds on here...so glad you held onto and let the cats sleep in it too...
You created a Cathouse Ghia...which is not a bad thing...
