I have had mine do that when the contact inside the gun is being made when it is not supposed to be. Take the trigger section apart after you inspect the tip and nozzle area closely. Good luck!

Don, I think the split thing you were asking about is called a dual pattern cam where the intake and exhaust lobes have different specs. I hope that helps a little.
