My 71 C10

all of these post are from another forum i have it posted on just thought i would do one here to and will be lots of pics i know everyone like pics. picked up 71 c10 about a year ago plans were to lower and install 6.0 but few weeks ago i picked up 5.3 with computer and harness for $300 so decided to do turbo setup
this is when i picked up the truck


options

washed it up

removed front cap and bed

removed springs to decide about where i want ride height

notched frame




test fit 5.3



tacked engine mounts in

started plating them in the engine came with frame mounts out of z71

removed cab

finished washing frame

replaced rusted cab corners common problem with these trucks

shaved marker lights on bed

also shaved them on front fenders,welded upi most of the holes for mounting trim, and filled stake pockets on bed
front fenders



got frame primed may leave it that way did lil body work where my welds are, also ordered all new ball joints, tie rods, and a-arm shafts still need to get new wheel bearings and drop spindles


picked up new fuel tank on craigslist and installed to get rid of tank from behind seat

got few mor things don new fuel tank, all new front suspension parts, got engine and trans set in place. also got turbo in and ordered bags for it




got front bags mounted now just need my drop spindles

all the way down no air front will be lower when i get drop spindles

got the bottom of bed primed yesterday and installed it today

got the ac compressor mounted had to bend frame down a lil to clear hoses also have lots of parts on there way

also got few parts in today
going to paint drop spindles before installing

got more parts 02 zo6 cam, walbro 255, tail bov, areomotive fpr with boost reference,60lb injecters, 3x4 coupler for turbo pipe to throttle body

fuel pump mounted


got one side of bed primed and spindles painted

thinking of mounting coils like this but will have to see how i have to run exhaust as it will be 3.5" because i can get most it from work



got more parts tial wastegate,wideband 02,egt gauge, turbo flange, check valve kit for th350 vacuum modulator,2 14" spal fans


got intercooler pipeing in

got other side of bed primed and back

primed underside of cab and the back of it


started redoing wiring harness

removed wires not needed was alot


extra pins removed from ecm

how it looks now every wire in harness will be made longer or shorter to route wires where i want them

still have some body work to do on bed but easier to see when its one color

finally got my spindles installed but will be replacing bearings and rotors later on

gets alot lower now


got new injectors in along with new pigtails for them and turned them to inside to clean up the wiring because coil packs will not be on valve covers and alt,throttle body wiring will be under intake


started to fit hydro boost only had to dril couple holes and will have to extend the rod that connects to brake pedal

started to rattle can firewall but ran out of paint

finished up firewall and painted back of cab and front of bed with rattle can so when new mounts come in i can put cab back on. paint is valspar low gloss black tractor paint from tractor supply back of cab still wet so looks more glossy than it is



got new 3k stall transmission specialties converter in


got more wiring done today and finaly decide where to put coil packs just have to make custom brackets and plug wires



it been a while had lots going on and no time to do stuff to truck but did finally get the cab on, front fenders and hood mocked up to get idea of what its going to look like. this is sitting at ride height

got some exhaust work done last couple days cut and welded stock manifolds they are cast but didn't heat or anything and welded good with no cracks now i just need to get some bends to finish it up then take the time to smooth everything out before i have them coated



finally got turbo mocked up in place hope to do more soon


few more pics from this morning. got intercooler in just need to finish top mounts. had to see how it would look behind the grill that will eventually be black

thanks and it should have about 600 hp to the wheels when its done. its going to be satin black when done. its no rat rod to me but is a hot rod. some would say it is a rat rod just because the color but i just thought some of you would like to see the build. im trying to find me a rat rod now but have to sell my boat to get one i was trying to trade for this one but the guy didnt want my boat but its something like im looking for a chop top
