I helped one son build his Outlaw Medic truck so 'I wanted to help my other son start this build. We are just a family in love with Ratrods. This build started out with a walk thru the woods and collecting enough parts to build a Model A.After gathering up everything we ( my two sons ) took them to the shop and clamped it together. The frame consists of a 1988 Caprice classic rear end and the front is a 1950 chevy frame and axle. One inch tubing holds the body together. After the body became rigid we cut six inches out of the body and doors. We took the body off the frame and fabricated the mounts for the motor and tranny. More later. Here's the pics

I am doing the same thing... I am always pickin through old wrecks for parts. Alot of good parts get abanded and it helps save money... plus theres a cool facter there... In dragging home a body from the woods.

Great work so far.... Looks alot better shape then mine

No woods here but when i first moved to AZ there were junk cars littering the desert. So much fun to search them out. No more.

Eman... I know a guy who goes on dirt biking trips.. he went on a ride through the desert in Nevada and was telling me about all the piles of old 30's-40's cars they would find miles and miles from any roads.. i need to move to a dryer climate..

Yep so far from a recycle plant they aren't worth hauling. When i drove a semi on the road going north out of Baker CA into NV there is, maybe was, a complete 40's cab sitting right on the side of the road in the desert. Straight, surface rust only and free! Too far even for me to get back to in my pickup.

Its fun seeing this car come together. So thankful that i have someone to help and guide me through it all. If only i could not work and just go to the shop.[;)

The grill is finished. It is made out of a warehouse racking shelf floor. 1/4 inch rod welded together. Also I installed the brake booster.

Ill second that statement.:( Feel like thats all we do while dad works on the vehicle

HAHA Upgrades sense i left earlier. Nice air cleaner and grille is not as shiny.

You have lots of really cool details on your car. The interior is especially neat (a 50's term). Looks like it should scare little children and old ladies! Well done.[cl

That's the shifter. It came off of a 38 inch Sears Craftsman lawnmower deck. You just push down the grenade and pull the lever back into gear.I used a ceiling fan stainless steel tube to run the shifter rod thru. The linkage is made from a 1950 Chevrolet brake rod.
