    front axle question.

I picked up a front end out of a 36 or 37 Ford sedan and was planning on using it on my Model A build. My plan was to just use the original i-beam axle and buy everything else brand new. The axle was setup with the spring in front and I would like to run suicide batwings with a reverse eyed...

Got the new 440 in the 46 Dodge

Thats pretty cool. I just had a 69 440 E-block go through a complete rebuild, bored .030 over, performance cam, and intake, 750 Holley, and as they put it "did a little something extra to the heads". It was far from cheap but will be more than worth it.

What year is that 440? And what all did you do to it?

    rear brakes...

The bolt pattern is 5x4.5 on this rear end. My original thought was to have them turned down because they still have a lot of life left. But I wasn't sure if you could turn down a drum or not.

I'll try and get some pictures this weekend.

    rear brakes...

The drums themselves are just to wide. The braking surface is maybe 2 inches wide and there is at least another 2 inches of drum beyond that. I would imagine for cooling under braking. With the drums on the axle they stick out beyond the backing plate to far. For example if the axle measured...

    rear brakes...

So I picked up a 9" rear end out of 66 Thunderbird awhile back, and got it sitting under the rear of my sedan for mock up. The issue I have now is the drums are to deep and wont clear the body. My questions for the experts is, are there smaller (shallower) drums? And would I gain any room with...

    I got a few questions.

    Opinions?

I had an 02 quad cab dakota with the 4.7 V8 and it did ok on fuel mileage, it was over 15mpg on the interstate, and probably could have been better with a clean air filter, and non restrictive exhaust. the best part about that truck is it would go anywhere. drove through 2 feet of snow like it...

    I got a few questions.

Does anyone have any pictures of home made frame jigs? I have some ideas forming in my mind on how to go about building one.

    Opinions?

if your going to tow that kind of weight and often i would suggest staying away from a smaller truck, especially a V6. have you thought about an older used diesel? i drive a 3/4 ton dodge with the cummins and a 5 speed and constantly see 17+mpg driving to and from work and around town and 20+...

    MSD distributors

I'm going to convert my points distributor to an electronic ignition, and was wondering if anyone had any input or experience with the MSD Pro-Billet ready to run distributor? The link below is what I'm looking at. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-8387/?rtype=10

    I got a few questions.

Thanks guys for the replies. I still have a few weeks before I will have everything I need, but it doesnt hurt to start preparing early. I will probably use 2X4X3/16 tubing and for the fish plates go with 1/4". Some of the local rat rodders have offered to help with the frame when the time...

    I got a few questions.

Ok I've been poking around here for awhile now, and doing quite a bit of reading, and talking to some of the local rat rodders trying to get some ideas. Now I have a few questions for you guys, regarding my future frame. From what I have gathered after a few hours of reading frame building...
