I use holley on barrels that came on the slant six. for headers i am making a set of lakester style. I got the flange off of egay for 36 bucks and i use a old drive shaft for the cones.

you can also cut them once they are flipped to adjust for caster and reweld. It is best to do this near the front where they were originally welded. This also does not limit yur rear mounting point just cut and weld

yur right about the axle but it is a cheap drop axle and you can mount a single spring across this axle just use the original spring mounts and make brackets for the new spring. Round tubing is much strongeer than square. So geth the torch out and go to work.

what ddo you planon for horsepower. If you are not going for crazy amounts the ford 8 inch will work and is cheap. same for s10 rear ends again lots of them and they are cheap. even can get disc brake

go with spring behind and cowl steering. I looks better and is easier to deal with. Also don't forget dodge truck steerbox will also work and they are aluminum.
