    My new sweetheart

Gus, sorry, just had to dig up this "oldie" I notice on your eBay plans, it's for 2x4 tubing. I'd have to go way back on this thread to be sure, but wasn't this one 2x3? Just curious, are they basically revised plans from this build? BTY, this is probably my favorite build of all times. Love...

    53 Chevy PU onto a S-10 frame

thanks I gotta tell ya; I've done a Camaro front clip on a 54 a couple years back, and now this but IMHO the Camaro clip was a hellava lot easier.

    53 Chevy PU onto a S-10 frame

I ended up keeping the vibration dampener. It's kinda hard to tell from the pics but everything lines up nice and straight/true. It's just dry fitted for now. I'll probably take the shaft back out for the engine/trans installation. I bought a support bearing from Speedway which I'll install on...

    DD steering shaft question

Just in case someone reads this thread who is also looking for a coupler, I did find one at Summit: Flaming River Steering Coupler part # FR1945 both ends are 3/4" DD Of course, thanks to the help on this board, I don't need one now.

    53 Chevy PU onto a S-10 frame

Forgot to mention in the beginning. Here's a Photoshop version of the look I want.... A local sign painter who has lettered two trucks for me says he can letter it and make the lettering look 50 years old.

    53 Chevy PU onto a S-10 frame

Worked on a couple wheel tubs today. [;) I'm thinking I'm gonna order a shaft bearing, so something to do in the mean time.... They're not mounted yet, just a dry-run....

    53 Chevy PU onto a S-10 frame

I'm kinda looking at that. With the new U-joint on the end of the new column, the dampener and the rag joint on the box.... that's three. Guess I better get me a bearing. Thanks for checking Joker, I like the looks of those. Thanks, wish me luck that it works out.

    53 Chevy PU onto a S-10 frame

I'd like to keep it, but I'm thinking if I do I'll need a support bearing. And, I don't have any real good place for a bracket.

    DD steering shaft question

I'm thinking if I leave the vibration dampener, I'll need a support bearing. I would just go ahead and add one, but I don't have a real good place to bracket it.

    53 Chevy PU onto a S-10 frame

Getting to work on the steering shaft. (thanks again to Jimmy Wallbanger, deerchooper & bob w for the suggestions) First, tear apart the s-10 column for the dd shaft and sleeve/connector.... and here's the dd sleeve that I wasn't able to find aftermarket.... Now I'm trying to decide whether...

    DD steering shaft question

Thanks again. I tore into the s-10 column and sure enough there's everything I need.... One more question. I wondering if I can leave the vibration dampener in also. It's not rigid but it's not as flexible as a U-joint either....

    53 Chevy PU onto a S-10 frame

I had torn down an old deck/porch that I saved the weathered decking boards just for this project. The deck was sagging in the middle so the boards are warped, low in the middle but I think over time they should straighten up. They're not fastened yet because I need to take them back out to work...

    DD steering shaft question

Thanks guys. I do have a spare S-10 column. Any idea if it would have one. I hate to cut it up, I thought I may use it sometime in the future, but maybe I'll tear it apart if it has a sleeve.

    DD steering shaft question

That's s nice set up. I don't have a junk column laying around. There's no place you can buy the sleeves?

    DD steering shaft question

Is there such a thing as a rigid 3/4" DD shaft connector? I can't seem to find one in any catalogs. There's all kinds of adapters (3/4 to 1", etc) but no 3/4 to 3/4. In the pic below, I need to install a U-joint at the end of the column, then cut off the factory vibration dampener, then if I...

Column mounted. Now to work on the dd shaft.

    53 gmc/chevy on s10 frame

One more question joker, ya mind sharing what size wheels you're running on the rear? And what offset? Sorry if you already posted it, but I went back several pages and couldn't find it, only the tire size. I've done a good bit to mine lately. Here's my build thread...

    53 Chevy PU onto a S-10 frame

They're a couple inches wider but still have the saddles in the right place to just bolt onto the 2wd springs. The 2wd S-10 are a lot narrower than the 53's.

    53 Chevy PU onto a S-10 frame

Thanks deerchooper. I did look into the side bracing but it's plenty strong enough side-to-side. My original plan was to use the S-10 steering column, but after getting it clamped in position I just didn't like the way it fit. For one thing, it sits a little high and too far from the dash. On...
