    my new project!

Building them from scrap muffler tubing, or electrical conduit, will be cheaper, especially if you have a muffler or electrical contractor shop nearby that will let you take the scraps that you need. You might need to toss the manager a cold one, but that's gotta be cheaper than buying...

    Source for frame material?

That's the first thing I did. Unfortunately, the shops around here that I asked don't have enough of what I needed. They have plenty of 2 x 4 x 1/8 wall. But I wanted 3/16, which they said was not a standard stocked item for them. If I wanted 1/8" wall, I could have plenty and cheap. Anyone use...

$60 for 20 feet sounds REAL cheap! Nice score!

    Source for frame material?

$60 for a 20-inch piece of 2x3? Or did you mean 20 feet?

    can residual valves "go bad"?

Most underfloor MC's have the residual valves built into them. You sure you need the external ones?

MAIDEN Build. 46' IH Rat Truck

Look for a donor with a similar track width. S10, early Camaro, Nova II, etc. ? Do some homework and save yourself some aggravation and $. Junk yards should be happy to help you find something.

    Source for frame material?

The last place I checked (2 miles from my house, DUH!!!!) will get me 2x4x3/16" tubing for $8/foot. I ordered 40 feet. Will be here in about a week. WoOhoO!

    Source for frame material?

I'm in New York. The local places want just as much as the on-line places, even when factoring in shipping, about $12/ft. There's 1 more place I need to try, they might have cut-offs that I can get cheaper.

    Source for frame material?

Where do you folks obtain your steel tubing materials to build your frames? Local steel supply house? On line? If on line, who do you recommend? Thanks in advance.

The other option is to lengthen your axle tubes, and have new axles made up.

    Need some suspension advice.

Corvette IFS is pricey. If you don't need it to handle like a sports car, again, I'd look for a Camaro or Nova, etc clip. Fenderless is whole other aesthetic issue.

    body, axle, wheel clearance problem

Ahh, I see it now. Yeah, a wider rear, or wheel spacers might be the solution.

Have you considered tubbing the wheelwells?

    Need some suspension advice.

    A) congrats! nice find!! B) if you're going to update the drivetrain with some potent hp out of a camaro, def get some better brakes. I'd look to get a donor vehicle for the engine/trans and rear axle, and if at all possible, the front clip too. I think an IFS setup is the way to go, especially...

    Rectangular steel tubing, what size/thickness?

Yeah, that's a whole other concern. I'm planning to add a wedge-shaped piece of bar stock at the bottom of the frame where it's visible at the front, Maybe drill some progressively larger 'lightening holes' in it too. Maybe I'll go with 2x4 instead though. The 2x3 is keeping me up at night. LoL...

    Rectangular steel tubing, what size/thickness?

I have a bunch of 2x3x3/16 thick steel tube, enough to build my frame, but am wondering if I should set it aside and use 2x4 instead. What do you guys recommend? The build will be a relatively short wheelbase (106" or so) typical Z'd frame design, inline 6 cylinder engine/auto trans, transverse...
