So after looking for a very long time, i have found my project truck a 1940 chevy truck. The guy i bought it from had partially built up a frame for it but i am going to have to change what he did for what i want to do. My plan right now(which might change) is to chop the top 5", z the frame and put a bb 500 into it :D this is my first ratrod build so if you see anything that i can do better Please let me know! i can use the help...

The spring set up on the front is interesting, how bout some more pics?
Can't really tell whats going on there! Perch looks a little weak from pics
posted!!
Cab looks real solid, frame looks good, great start!!

yeah i think the perch is weak as well, that was one of the things i was going to change, i dont like the spring set up either i dont know why the guy i got it from did it that way. ill post some more pics tonight.

started the chop, i marked out two different chops a 5" and a 3". i started with the 3" chop and now i need some advise, im on the fence on chopping another inch or two out, what do you think?

Funny, I was going to say it's just right. I think the proportions are good where it's at. The bottom part of the cab (from the window sill down) is pretty tall. Too much chop will make it look out of proportion and too Cartoon like. I like a 1/3 to 2/3 proportion. That's just my opinion so take it for what opinions are worth!!

Nice project. Keep posting pictures.......................[P

im also now faced with the decision of either laying the A pilars back or sectioning the roof, dont really know which route i want to go now. funny how you have a plan then when you start you question everything you had already planned.

forgot to give an update of the work i did on the truck last weekend. i was able to get the A pilars cut and i got everything lined up. I got everything tacked together. hoping to get the roof all welded up this weekend. :)

picked up my rear axle yesterday. A guy from work had a wrecked 3/4 ton chevy truck so he hooked me up with this 14 bolt rear end.

Chop looks right on to me. I wish whoever chopped mine had of layed back the posts like that instead of adding a section to the roof, poorly at that. Lots more bodywork for me to do.

yeah that's why i decided to lay the posts back, i didn't want to risk warping the roof. all i got left to do is some leading over the welds and its done :D
