It all started with a truck I got in High School and the plan was to turn it in to a lifted 4X4. My dad and I put all new running gear under it from a 1978 Chevy 1/2 ton and then it sat for years. The engine got water in it and locked it up. I decided it was time to do something with this cool truck and I always wanted to build a rat rod. I started with the cab chopping the top 7" and sectioning it 4". The frame I am building out of 2x4 3/16 tube and has a 6" z in the front and 11" in the rear. I am using a solid axle setup from Speedway and a Chevy 12 bolt in the rear. The trans is a 5-speed manual with a brand very well built be me with 13.2:1 compression alcohol burning Chevy 383. The tires and wheels will be bias 28.5" in the front and 31" in the rear (not the ones on it in pics). It is coming along really good I just got the bed cut down to 4' last night. Hope you like! :D

Too much rust and a roof too low?? I didn't realize that was ever a possibility!!

Sounds to me like you threw away a perfectly good cab! [S

I like the 54.

Welcome to RRR, I love to see old willys trucks getting built into rats, too many of them end up in the clouds with huge mudder tires and crawling along rocks. Jeeps are cool, you are gonna have a blast with it. daring to be different. Willys rats rock...:))))
