Well, I just picked up another project. I know my wife is real happy with me now, I guess 7 cars is to much. It is a 1962 Mercury Comet 2 door, and it is going to need a lot of work. But I picked it up on the Cheap and it came with a up to date registration and title. I guess I will start with seeing if I can get it running then move to brakes. Who know from there, may have to sale some other stuff to fund this one.

Question about cleaning

Ok, I got the comet home. I stopped at the car wash and tried to clean it, but 30 years of crap is hard to get off. Is it ok to Scotch bright it, to get the crap off of it, or will it hurt the patina?

Scotch brite with CLR and water will help the patina, not hurt it. You'll be amazed how much of that "surface rust" is on top of lovely paint. Afterwards you can wax it or Rat Wax it and you'll be good to go!
