Exhausting x2

Had to take the rod to the muffler shop today so my buddy could make up the pipes for it...lots of bends but will look good when installed after frame is finished...as you can see it's winter here and colder than sh!tt...hopefully get this thing tore down soon..still have to put the 394 holes in the outer pipes for the machine gun headers self inflicked work but it's fun!!!

Man , that looks awesome! I like the choice of front wheels!! Going to enter it in " Draggins " this Easter?

I would like to have it finished for both Majestics and Draggins but I am not sure if I have enough time to Get"R" Dunn...some of the things I have to do take longer than one anticipates and it slows the build down... I have spent to much time on it now to start cutting corners in order to make a car show...I would rather finish it the way I plan and if It turns out that I can make these events that would be great, if not there is always next year and other events...Super Run in Saskatoon in Aug. for sure and probably some local shows as well...but I will keep plucking away and maybe I will make the early shows as well....Thanks for the comments...

Looking great so far. Nice build thread. I have a 28 in progress.

What gauge set up did you decide. I thought pic 6 in the cross style looked pretty bad ass.

Finishing Headers

Got all the holes drilled for the machine gun headers...got them cleaned up and bolted in place...did the same for the rear as well

Finishing Mock Up!

Getting close to finishing mock up...fitted the gear shifter...played with different options....I think I like the trigger switch with the 50 cals....I also swapped out the glass grill insert for a 32 commercial one....mocked up the headlights so I could take a final look at the results...should work out fine...just a few more finishing touches and then tear done for frame detailing and paint and reassembly...then we can get creative and throw all the good stuff at it...should be fun.

All i can really say is AWESOME, i love this build! All of the small details that you have thrown in there really make it stand out. How much time do you think you have in all the hole drilling for the machine gun look? Its kind of an odd question but you have far more patients than I haha.

Each pipe takes about an hr. to make with drilling all the holes and cleaning them up. Then they have to be fitted over the inner pipe...and they still have to be painted...I would think between cutting all the inner pipes and welding them in place, making the machine gun outers and painting everything it would take about 16 hrs...lots of work but they are different than everybody else's so I think it's worth the time...Thanks for the comments

It's looking awesome! What's your planned finish for the exhaust? I think a black outside and silver/bare inside would look even more awesome.

That's the way they will end up...I did the same thing on my 32 pickup as well and I knew it would fit this build theme as well..thanks for the comments

Tear Down

Starting ripping it all apart for the last time...used a chain hoist and some straps to get the body off....worked pretty good and then got junior over to help push the chassis outside so I could turn it around so I can use the chain hoist to pull the power train out...hopefully I can get it all tore apart and prep the frame and suspension parts for painting on the weekend...long nights ahead...again..

I agree its definitely worth the time it takes. It sets the car apart and shows that you had a keen eye for attention to detail and thats something to be proud of.

That must be a really good feeling to be tearing the thing apart for the last time. I cant wait till my project is in that stage.

Got the frame all prepped as well as all the suspension components, brackets, steering arms, etc......lots of work and not much fun...any way it's done....next load everything up and take it to the shop to paint...better facilities and more room

Painting Party!!!

We have two booths at the shop...one for priming and spray in liners and the other for strictly painting so I could use both today and get this all done at once...good deal....I hung all the parts that I could in the old booth from ropes that we have stretched across...works good for this...Parts hanging like party streamers....The frame I hung in the paint booth and put balloons in the holes so I wouldn't get any paint in them...They work awesome for this...I will clear coat all the holes after...I set the rear end on stands and painted it as well...I used POR 15 Metal Mask to give it that bear metal cast look...once this stuff sets up it's almost as tough as powder coat...I used it on my last one and was quite impressed...this is the part that I am glad is over with...now it can be fun again.:)
