My second rat rod. Having more fun with this one than the first. I'm calling this front suspension "staggered perpendicular quarter elliptical". Flying Goddess is a gift from a friend. Doing a front to back fender swap, using the old louvered inner fenders as fender skirts. Air bagging the rear. Will do somewhere between 3" & 6" chop. No channeling needed with this cab. Also putting running boards back on.

I like where this is going. I have similar plans for an old set of Cheby "Alien" headlight buckets. They were made to float. :D We won't be the first, but we will be the few.
 
Little more progress on 41.

Saving my $$ for bags to replace the blocks. Should have cab chopped and put back together by next weekend.

Cris boggess, the street rod instructor at UVU has done a few binder chops some of his work is featured in Tex Smith books, ( RIP Tex ) We have a binder behind the barn for a some day built. The Kid in the Next stall when I was taking the Fab class at UVU did a chop on an internatal under Cris;s direction His method is to drill out the spot welds and remove the inner roof panel and cut the roof skin loose. Then he slits the A post and takes out a chunk from it windshield side only. then slide the windshield headder down. He leaves the doors alone. The windshield is a lot taller than the door glass stock . he gets them the same height , only about a 3 or 3 1/2 in windshield chop. Then he starts pie cutting the roof skin and takes out the bubble shape I like the look when he is done. I am tall enough a radical chop would be too cramped with the channel we plan on doing.

Haircut time for the 41

Got lucky and only have to split the cab one way. In my mind, the quality of metal used in the cab of this pre-war truck is substantially better than my 47 Ford. Thoughts on that??

Got the front section of the cab tacked in place. Fitting nicely.
