Ok... installing bear claw latches tomorrow & have seen a couple of articles online & have a question. Which should I do 1st... the latch in the door or strikers on the door jam?!?

BoB

IMO- I would do the latches in the door first! Then you could take a sharpie and poke it through the closed latch to get a centerline reference and then you only have to locate the striker so the door closes in the position you want it to. At least thats how I do them!!

Good Luck!!

i'd say the striker on the door jam...since the patch panel for the latch has extra material so you can always move the latch. atleast thats how i looked at it when im ready to do mine, but dude makes a good point with sharpie thru hole

I always put the knob in the door first and then put the striker in the jamb.........course I'm a carpenter not a mechanic :D But I plan to use that same strategy when I put the latches in my Willys [;)
