OK Bone,
let me see if I can explain this so it is "Clear as Mud"

Because the right side rotared "clockwise" those were RHT. It was believed that because the left side rotated "counter-clockwise" that those studs should be LHT in order to keep the lug nuts from backing off. Some manufacturers still did not have a lot of faith in them,(those LHT studs and nuts) so some of the heavy duty trucks were given 5-lugs on one side and 6-lug on the left. (THe reason that was done is the notorius "just in case" clause.

You know, just in case the other 5 nuts backed off any way.

SEE, clear as mud.

I hope that helps.....

Up until 1972 or 1973 all FORD trucks over 1/2 ton rating still had LHT on the left rear only...

I am being serious for once. I promise.

Have you ever had a 67, 68, 69 "Cuda" ? They were LHT all the way around. I found that out the hard way, VERY early in my long career as a tire and wheel specialist...

No BS'n here....

Yea, I have seen tons of lht lugs, esp. on military, but I don't see the 5 lug-6lug thing as good reasoning, why not make it 6 lug all the way around?

Started on the truck

Not really a build picture, but before I unloaded the truck from my trailer, I cut off the old bed. I found a 14 bolt rear axle in my "junk yard" that fits on the military springs. So I'll stick that on the rear so I can move it around. I'll probably change that weird front axle set up out, although it is a drop I beam style axle with leaf springs. Thinking more and more about that roll off bed idea for this truck, it sticks out from the cab to the back of the frame 12 feet. Who knows?

Sorry about not turning these pics first, don't hurt your necks!

Man,
That thing has soo much potiential. How bout a Rat Rod styled flatbed ? Long and low, air baggs on the rear so you could just drive the "Bonehead Truck" right up on there.

My head is swimming with ideas.

That truck is just begging to be a car hauler.
Flatbroke I like your idea, air bags on the rear to lower the bed to the ground. That yould be a cool hauler.
