Hi RRR
thanks for welcome to site. Hope to get more ideas for this build so many cool truck builds on this site. This will be my first attempt at a rod/truck, after doing a few 4wd restos and 4cyl escorts wanted to build a rod or car trailer to carry above toys on. My fiance came up with the idea of combining the two, a ratrod truck beavertail. So went searching and found this dodge(she got an engagement ring) which a fellow local hot rodder was going to do same thing to cart his 427 powered 57 chev(he found a tilt tray cheap instead). But he had done brakes up and gave the motor a bit of tidy up, 350 holley plugs leads points etc.

The truck is a 74 Dodge D5N dually.
Has a 245 or 265 hemi(with no tray lights up the duals)
Dana 60 or 70 diff(still trying to find info) i think its a 70 as i have a 60 in my series landrover and it looks bigger then it
4 speed trans

So heres the plan matte black and lowered as much as legally possible(maybe bit more if go airbag assist route).
Either long flat try with long ramps or beavertail.
Trying to keep it cool and practical as it will be a bit of a promo rig for my father in laws spring and suspension business i work for(we specialize in leaf springs so will be a bit of swapping and changing).
Cant wait for ideas and more inspiration.
Best go do abit
Chad

Now that is something I've never seen before!! Love those vehicles from down under... some amazing combinations of parts - I had no idea there was cooperation between manufacturers like that. :)
An International Harvester cab with Dodge front sheet metal of a design never seen in North America ! I wish they had made that 6 cylinder engine here, it looks a lot like a Chevy or AMC 6.
Is the rest of the frame and running gear Dodge or IHC ? [S
In Canada the later IHC pickups came with parts from various manufacturers, AMC V8's, Chrysler Torqueflite trannys, some Scouts even came with Nissan deisels.

Have fun, looking forward to the build. [P

Not 100% sure about front axle but i do know that international did same vehicle and parts are interchangeble.
Motor is a chrysler hemi similar to what goes in the valient charger over here plenty of go fast bits about.
There is a v8 option in this model truck but the 6 nearly goes as hard slightly better on fuel(not that that matters) and thats what ive got, always an option later though.

Got a bit done to the old girl today. Started to block back and found the bog and rust faireys had been in. Also there has been dodgey repair to roof done in previous life and they didn't fully weld panel in so condensation got under bog and rusted roof. pretty fitting for this site but talked to my mate who does registrations and aparently if you can see light through the rust its unregistable(no fun). So bare metal it is for roof all rust is repairable just more time.
Also removed windows, doors, fixtures, grill, bumper will hook in tomoz.
pics to follow hope they work out done on camera phone.

that is a very kool truck, like said earlier here in canada ive never seen a machine like that, a mishmash of different manufactures parts stuffed into one cool truck. and hey if go fast goodies are readilly available where you are than all the better! it looks like its got a header on it already [cl

Thanks guys
Yeah has big set of headers that i have to modify, i think there out of something else they hit a crossmember and steering rod, should be able to adjust them without reducing flow.
Luck has it the hotrod guys i bought it from put a 350 holley on to help get it all in.

New grill option

Its been awhile since ive posted any progress on this build been flat out with work, weddings and building another range rover. Got some more bits to add to the pile for the dually. Picked up this international ab130 truck for stuff all. cab is good and has a real cool grill set up that luck has it is in good nick. It runs and everything but is all international gear so will strip for cab and store parts for now. cab is the same except for grill so will be swapping it onto my chassis further down the track.

nearly stripped one truck one to go

Thanks for the great comments guys gets you motivated.
Got hooked again after new purchase. got into it and stripped vehicle down to chassis. Just engine and gearbox to go will be reusing after a freshen up. Can do kingpins and rear diff a bit easier now as well. Plan is to have all drive line sorted then start on cab. Thrown a picture of a concept for rear found some spare mud terrains lying about might get some people thinking over here and in true rat rod spirit its what ive got. Also couple of inside pics of new truck got cool retro dash. Will keep bench seat too was going buckets but easier for rego and missus likes it. like all builds concept has changed was going to lenghthen chassis to use as car hauler but local government is trying to stuff up all the laws so simple and easy to start with. Oversized dually flat top that will carry swb landy or a resto hillman will do for now.

I like the oversize rough tires on the rear. When I put them om my truck I had to put 2 inch spacers between the wheels because the tires kept the wheels from bolting up correctly. If the tires touch they could get hot and bust.I purchased mine from a seller on ebay.
