drain plug help

Ford 9" rear end.... I rounded out the female plug with my ratchet extension, any suggestions short of welding something on to it to release it? I need to replace my pinion seal and managed to bugger up the square fitting in the plug.

might try a piece of square keystock the correct size-(or a little tight) and weld a nut onto that to get it to "tool campatible/user friendly"
...then use alot of penetrating oil and a little luck/finese it might come out

extractors that are used for pipe are short and big enough you might be able to drive one of these into it to screw it out.

Try a hammer and chisel to tap it around...go easy, Don't try to pound it out.
