I'm planning on building a mid engine 52 Ford coe but was wondering there is a certain length the drive shaft must be? The measurement I came out with is 12 inch tube length with the front input yoke and rear U joint attached. Will that work or do I need to move everything forward? I've got about 4 inches of clearance between the pulleys and cab to play with. Any information and help would be appreciated.

No certain length, it just needs to connect the tranny & rear end. I'll see if I can find some photos of some short ones. You might want to check out some of the old wheelie machines like the Little Red Wagon.

I think it will depend on rear suspension travel, and what it will do the U joint angles.
