I don't think they are all that bad, just not crazy about the glue on aspect of it. But, there are a lot of people out there that will bash you for it. However, I think, finding a good donor and grafting on some older sheetmetal would be cooler. The t-bird kit is a copy of a guy who did it that way.

I have seen one up close, and the car was done right, with flake green paint and good wheels, and it looked pretty good. It got alot of attention from the car show crowd, with mixed reviews.

I've seen the Fords, tolerable but that 57 camero just hurts my retinas.
I also have pictures of bullit nosed stude elcamino kits and one of a real live customized 70s camero with 57 Chevy nose and tail.

I'm with WB3 on the two you posted. The Ford doesn't look bad. I've seen them in person. The 57 Chevy/Camaro looks ill proportioned to me.

my wifes old boss has one of those she keeps it on display in her 5 and dime shop it was a 59-95 i thunderbird I think i thought i was kind of cool diferent at least

Yeah, I'm not a fan of them at all. A friend has one on a Turbo Coupe body, and it gets a lot of attention, that is one thing I will say. But I just think they are neither fish nor fowl. But to each his own.

40 years from now someone will find it rusting away in a shelterbelt and wonder what the heck were they thinking, ruined a superbird. lol
Fake convertable tops really rub me the wrong way, fake anything actually.

The treasurer from my old club did one of the 50 Ford deals with real steel long before that kit was available. He was really ****ed when he first seen that kit advertised cause he figured the guy must have seen his a took the idea. LOL. I think they just happened to hit on the same idea.

im all for making your personal car unique but just something about them that doesnt sit well with me. its like that truck kit that you can put a late '40's nose on a late truck. just not me. i think its okay to interchange all around but some of those creations look like you have taken two different vehicles and chopped them in half and glued them back together. or slammed one ontop of the other and said "done!"

i can see it now.... lets take a late '90's Escort and build an old 'stang out of it. that would be a "Pimp My Ride" special!

I've been aware of these guys for a couple of years. There's a guy in Sterling Heights, MI with a midnight blue "Bird with this kit and a license plate that says 49 tbird. Personally, I like them. would love to build one as soon as the DeSoto is done. Easy Rods advertises in "OLD CARS WEEKLY" and they have lowered their kit price by a grand to $2,995.

For those who love the shoebox 49-51 Fords & think this "kit" is sacrelidgous, let me just add:
1) No overheating flathead
2) No 6 volt electircal system
3) No 4 corner overheating drum brakes
4) No hard-to-find sheet metal parts
5) No cardboard (uncomfortable) seats
6) Air Conditioning
7 (Disc) brakes that really work!
8) Power windows, seats, steering, brakes, cruise
9) Better than average sound system from the factory
10) Never a shortage of people talking about your car.
11) You can always build another one without spending a fortune
12) If it brakes down (anywhere) you can always find parts for it.

I could go on............
