That been going on for years. I had a cords stolen in 2003 and the card co. told me all the ways they do it. That was one way.

Others was double swipe. They would take your card swipe it and then swipe in into a pocket swipper and sell it to the highest bidder on line. Some of the swiper would hold up to 150 numbers.

Put a swipper over the card slot for a amt and a small camera up in the corner and get your number and pass code.

some would keep the carbon copy from the old card swippers and sell them.

They told me no to carry the cards in my pocket. Carry them in your shirt pocket with the strip facing you. Never let them out of your sight when you hand it to someone. and always ask for the Carbon copy if they hand swipe it.

This was 2003 so there are newer ways out there.

I only carry my cards when I need then. all other times there at home and I us cash. The card that was stolen was only used one time at a dealership and next thing I knew was the bank calling me and asking if I been using my card because it was maxed out in three days. The card had a $5,000.00 credit line. The S.O.B. used it to buy On line porn and to pay some tickets in the state of Washington. Got it taken care of but what a hassle I had to prove that all the charges were not mine.
Now I only carry my cards when I need them. The rest of the time they are home and I use cash most of the time. At less with cash they can not steel you ID.

Just think now everyone is carrying there info even credit cards on there cell phone. Just think how easy that will be to steel. They will be walking around with devises to intercept your air waves.

Worth knowing about, at least you might clue in if you notice someone is acting a bit strange near you and others. The old saying...Forewarned is Forearmed.
