Export/Importing laws?

Has anyone here tried to Export/Import a car?

I'm thinking about trying a buy and import a 1940 Packard 120, but was wondering if anyone has had any experience doing that.

i haven't ever tried so i don't know much. i looked up a little and i think i would contact a inporting co. to see how deep your pockets might have to be. heres a link, and i think i would use a american co. on this.

I used to know a guy who was in the business of exporting antique American cars to Sweden. He had quite a little business going and from what he told me it wasn't as hard as you might think. However, coming INTO the States might be a little tougher, especially since 911. Years ago I did exporting to the Arab countries for the company I worked for and we used an export specialist who knew all the documents and tricks to get it done.

I would take 26Troadsters advice and get someone involved who can handle the paperwork for you.

I know going from canada to america is reasonably easy, especially if you can drive it or tow it thru the border, there is plenty of grey areas there. What I wanna do is export from America and Import it into Japan

They export from Japan, not import into Japan.
