I am sure this has been asked a number of times but I could not find a clear answer. I am about to weld up my front end and I want to keep it low but don't have a dropped axle. My front is z'ed 8". How much will the spring drop with the weight of the engine, cab, etc added? It looks like I need to build the perch a couple inches higher?????? Here is a picture..

That 6 leaf spring has alot of arch to it so probably won't drop much when you put the weight on it, maybe 1 1/2 inch. You can get a 4 leaf spring with less arch or even a mono leaf that will allow your car to ride lower. But a 2 inch higher perch won't hurt anything. ..[P

Another suggestion I have is to mount the spring behind the axle using spring pivots. This will drop the front end about 1 1/2 inches. You can can do this now by just relocating the frame mounts for the radius rod.
