My Old Gasser

This is a Gasser I build in the "old days". Late 1960s. 34 Ford 5 window. I raced it at the old drag strip in Deer Park Washington near Spokane. I raced E/G with a 265 Chev and later C/G with a 327 with a single 4-barrel carb. I could not afford much as I was a poor college student. Also drove it on the street and got more than one ticket street racing....dumb kid. The Coupe was all steel and, like most people here, it is one of the cars I wish I had now!

Not to sound dumb but what does e/g and c/g stand for?
E/G and C/G were classes of race cars back then. It was figured on total weight of car and cubic inch of engine. Classes were from A/ Gas (Big engine and light car) to as low as F/Gas or G/Gas etc....(if you had a heavy car with a 6 or 4 cylinder engine.)

Nice gasser, Idahorat. It sure was fun back then.
Thanks Bob.... Yes, it was a lot of fun. It was a time when almost no one had a sponsor and we all just raced for the fun of it. We got a little tow money and won a trophy once in awhile. Everyone helped each other with their cars and loaned each other spare parts etc.. Big difference today!!!

Here's my contribution, my 55 Chevy at the drags in 1978.

My old gasser...

Gastrick and Ratty 46.....

Thanks for the comments. No, I have no plans to recreate the old 34 Gasser. It would be nice but I have no place to do the work now. That was a fun car. Like I stated I also drove the car on the street in those days and had a lot of fun with it. Kind of like "Living American Graffiti". Good times!

Here's another 55 Chev I built about 8 years ago, made my own frame and straight axle for this one, wanted to capture the gasser look, though never got it to the track before I sold it.
