what the best to start with 2/4 and what Thickness?
is it better to just cut up and build with old frame to start new.
i could get a s10 frame easy but would like to try myself.
but i could back half a s10 frame.

As for what you should start with, it depends on what you want to end up with. Usually existing frames don't work out real well on a fenderless car as they just don't fit the look. But on a fendered car they can be ok.

We always use 3/16 wall rather than 1/8, for two reasons. First of all it gives you a thicker wall to drill and tap for non structural mountings, like brake and fuel lines, and secondly, the profile is "prettier." 1/8 wall has sharp corners whereas 3/16 has more rounded corners. It only costs a little more and is much much stronger too.
