i have done a soup to nuts rebuild of a 63 willys jeep (18 months and a bucket of money)
a complete 1927 chevy hotrod build from the ground up (two years and way too much money)
and i swore the next vehicle i got was gonna be a turn key driver
i dont mind repair/replace upkeep
but i dont want to create any more vehicles
i figure i paid my wrenchin dues
now it turns out
i am gonna have to go get my new toy
2010 mile round trip
because of the size and weight the shipping costs are too much for me ($1900)
after fuel and trailer rental ($650) i will keep the rest of the money for other things.

Just skimming back through, that old belair is probably closer to running than the ambulance. I mistakenly thought the ambulance would be a turn key because of this post. I didn't know til we talked on the phone it hadn't ran in years. Did you get the tranny untangled and get it off the trailer?
You should look for some HumVee tires. Sometimes you can get takeoffs pretty cheap on surplus.

man am i glad i got that brutal drive to and from boise over with
1005 miles each way in mostly rotten winter conditions
havent bothered taking my powerwagon/ambulance off the trailer because i am taking it to a tranny shop in the am
it is 7f right now and i aint working on it.
buying a replacement carb for it and then take my time rebuilding the original

sad day
loaded the love weasel on a trailer and sent it to its new home:(
but on the other hand
now i have a cool old truck to play with.
but
its so freakin cold outside i am going crazy
cuz i cantstand around it and think of stuff to do to it
