Since the weather has been so crappy here lately and it seems like 'Crusin' Season' will never get here, I thought I'd share a few pics from last season. I only made it to two or three shows last summer but one I always try to make is held at a vocational school a couple towns over. A good friend of mine taught auto body there for 25+ years and was instrumental in starting this show in the late 1980's.

It's one of the first shows of the season around here and is always good for seeing old friends and seeing what's new on the local crusin' scene as lot's of folks debut their latest projects there.

So, on with the pics.......

Nice '64 Galaxie .........with a vinyl top no less!

Sweet two-tone Ford Hardtop

Loved the color on this Deuce Sedan........

And the stub of the old column shifter bent 90* and serving as a tach mount was a neat touch..

Couple of Micro Buses there including this restored one.......

And a 1st. Gen Chevy II in my favorite body style!

I've had a '64 Two Door Post stashed for over ten years.......maybe it'll be a project with my Grandson someday.

It's hard to beat a black '40 Standard Coupe with a 3-Carb Flattie!

Unless you prefer red.......and can get by with two carbs

An elderly gentleman drives the wheels off this sweet '34 .........I've seen him at shows for 30 years or more. He has a nice Model A PU too.

Several nice C-10's in attendance ......

.....including this one with suicide doors

And speaking of doors........while it's not my 'cup of tea' I can appreciate the work that went into this 'Stang........... however I was surprised when I saw a guy about 60 driving away in it.

I expect this one will be sporting new paint this spring......

......another one of those 'had it forever' rides with one of the nicest sounding flatheads that I've ever heard!

Like this two door post Chevelle...

A new car for less than $2,000 was the big pitch from Ford......My Dad bought a new Maverick when they came out in 1970 so this one brought back memories for me....

...and this Bronco was about as clean as they come!

This Rambler wagon was just begging for some "Bic Cubic Inches" ......

And speaking of 'Big Cubes' there's always some of them there too......

And 425 cubes is considered big too.........right? This one's for Tripper

It resides in this slick Buick and has carried my friend Mickey for thousands of trouble free miles!

Had me a couple of these back in the day and would love to have another one..

As with any show, the Tri-5 Chevys were out in force....

Love the color combo on this '57......this lady has owned a slew of big block Chevelles and Tri-5 Chevys

This one makes me wanna watch Two Lane Blacktop

This sweet small block, two four, four speed '56 Post belongs to my friend the retired auto body instructor who started this show.

Well, Bob's got me flustered now but here's a few more pics.........starting with some topless ones.......

The proportions are a bit off for my taste but I bet if you were behind the wheel with the wind in your hair you'd still be having a blast...

Not crazy about the wheels on this PU but hey, flat black, slammed and topless is pretty cool no matter what it's rolling on......

Nice 'Red Bird'.....

This T-Bucket was showing some age and was running a little 273 Dodge V8

And here's one of my favorite ragtops ever! A friend of mine built this '53 mild custom when he was in college.....in about 1959! It's had several power plants over the years but is currently running a built 327 and a 700R4

He also acquired this '40 Chevy coupe survivor a couple years ago......

It runs a 389 Tri-Power, four speed and wears 35+ year old paint.

I've known the car for almost 40 years and was really surprised when my friend was able to talk the original builder into selling it.

And what's not to love about a 'Chebby Taildragger'

One of the fun events at this show involves students with exemplary attendance for the year. Some local car dealer donates a late model used car and the auto mechanics class goes over it and auto body class touches it up and details it......then the eligible students are all given a key and the one who can start the car wins it....

Dang, no luck.......

Definitely a fun show with good participation from the students who use the proceeds to fund local, state and national VICA Club events.

So, what can I say about the car on the dash plaque? I spotted it immediately when I pulled in..........

It was pretty wild looking but the closer you got the more you seen.....like these crazy wheels with tough to access lug nuts.....

Steering wheel barely sticking out of the dash......

Springs that looked like helper springs off a pair of shocks......

And 'Air Ride'............I use that term very loosely

Radius rods made out of tie rod ends, fake zoomies and Big Block valve covers hiding a small block.......however the blower was functional.......

Now, I'm not a fan of trailered cars but I admit that when this guy drove out of the show with his 'Air Ride' pumped up tight.........

.....I was relieved to see him loading it on a trailer out back...........

Holy wow!!

I know how you feel Sam, this boat is pretty much the "Epitome of Wow"
And the best thing is he drives it often.......you're as likely to see it on a Thursday morning as you are at a Sunday show.

Yeah, Paradise isn't always what it's cracked up to be.......but it's sunny this morning and the snow is melting so things are looking up!
