Since the weather has been so crappy here lately and it seems like 'Crusin' Season' will never get here, I thought I'd share a few pics from last season. I only made it to two or three shows last summer but one I always try to make is held at a vocational school a couple towns over. A good friend of mine taught auto body there for 25+ years and was instrumental in starting this show in the late 1980's.

IMG_4898Large.jpg

It's one of the first shows of the season around here and is always good for seeing old friends and seeing what's new on the local crusin' scene as lot's of folks debut their latest projects there.

So, on with the pics.......

Nice '64 Galaxie .........with a vinyl top no less!

IMG_5022Large.jpg

My friend Jason's daily driver Chevy II Longroof ........which he recently sold.

IMG_5021Large.jpg

Sweet two-tone Ford Hardtop

IMG_5017Large.jpg

Loved the color on this Deuce Sedan........

IMG_5015Large.jpg

And the stub of the old column shifter bent 90* and serving as a tach mount was a neat touch..

IMG_5016Large.jpg

Couple of Micro Buses there including this restored one.......

IMG_4975Large.jpg

And this ratty survivor.......

IMG_5013Large.jpg

One of my favorite year Chevelle's

IMG_5009Large.jpg

And a 1st. Gen Chevy II in my favorite body style!

IMG_5006Large.jpg

I've had a '64 Two Door Post stashed for over ten years.......maybe it'll be a project with my Grandson someday.

More pics to come........I'll let ya know when I'm finished

It's hard to beat a black '40 Standard Coupe with a 3-Carb Flattie!

IMG_4925Large.jpg

IMG_4926Large.jpg

Unless you prefer red.......and can get by with two carbs :D

IMG_5005Large.jpg

An elderly gentleman drives the wheels off this sweet '34 .........I've seen him at shows for 30 years or more. He has a nice Model A PU too.

IMG_4924Large.jpg

Several nice C-10's in attendance ......

IMG_4914Large.jpg

.....including this one with suicide doors

IMG_5012Large.jpg

And speaking of doors........while it's not my 'cup of tea' I can appreciate the work that went into this 'Stang........... however I was surprised when I saw a guy about 60 driving away in it.

IMG_4915Large.jpg

I expect this one will be sporting new paint this spring......

IMG_4912Large.jpg

......another one of those 'had it forever' rides with one of the nicest sounding flatheads that I've ever heard!

IMG_4913Large.jpg

Hang on for more....

This show is always good for some nice 'stockers' too!

Like this two door post Chevelle...

IMG_4911Large.jpg

A new car for less than $2,000 was the big pitch from Ford......My Dad bought a new Maverick when they came out in 1970 so this one brought back memories for me....

IMG_4995Large.jpg

...and this Bronco was about as clean as they come!

IMG_4927Large.jpg

This Rambler wagon was just begging for some "Bic Cubic Inches" ......

IMG_4983Large.jpg

IMG_4982Large.jpg

And speaking of 'Big Cubes' there's always some of them there too......

IMG_4979Large.jpg

IMG_4978Large.jpg

And 425 cubes is considered big too.........right? This one's for Tripper :D

IMG_4921Large.jpg

It resides in this slick Buick and has carried my friend Mickey for thousands of trouble free miles!

IMG_4920Large.jpg

Got a few more.......

Hey, 1956 called and want's it's Shoebox Ford back!

IMG_4916Large.jpg

Had me a couple of these back in the day and would love to have another one..

IMG_4997Large.jpg

As with any show, the Tri-5 Chevys were out in force....

IMG_5010Large.jpg

IMG_5000Large.jpg

IMG_4969Large.jpg

IMG_4943Large.jpg

Love the color combo on this '57......this lady has owned a slew of big block Chevelles and Tri-5 Chevys

IMG_4917Large.jpg

This one makes me wanna watch Two Lane Blacktop :p

IMG_4966Large.jpg

This sweet small block, two four, four speed '56 Post belongs to my friend the retired auto body instructor who started this show.

IMG_5001Large.jpg

Still want more?

Some nice Tri-5 longroof's too.....

IMG_5011Large.jpg

IMG_4967Large.jpg

IMG_4968Large.jpg

Yeah I know, enough Tri-5's............everybody and his brother has one

So........ here's my '57 Moredoor

IMG_4986Large.jpg

And while we're talking Moredoors, I've always had a soft spot for Moredoor Hardtops!

IMG_4965Large.jpg

IMG_4923Large.jpg

Couple of nice early Vettes....

IMG_4993Large.jpg

And a 'Redwalled Red 'Goat'

IMG_4958Large.jpg

Hang on for a few more....

This is always quite an eclectic show.........I mean where else are ya gonna find a Two Carbed Dodge pickup.......

IMG_4962Large.jpg

One of these......

IMG_4947Large.jpg

A Stude PU.......

IMG_4960Large.jpg

And a Pantera all in one place!

IMG_4948Large.jpg

Speaking of Studes, here's one for Tirediron......

IMG_4949Large.jpg

Nice Chevy Coupe....sure would like to see you build your's Skull

IMG_4950Large.jpg

Here's a cool roadster...

IMG_5008Large.jpg

And a nice PU to go with it!

IMG_4951Large.jpg

I notice the inspection sticker on this little Slant 6 Valiant expires 4-13..........hmmmm, 413 sounds like what should be under the hood. :D

IMG_5003Large.jpg

Well, I said I'd let you know when I'm finished but why didn't someone tell me it was bedtime when I started posting pics! I have some more but they will have to wait till tomorrow or Sunday. Anyways, I hope I've helped with the "Winter Blues"

Later,
Ray

My dad had a couple of these through out my childhood (exact same color for all of them as this one), but they never looked this good. I wouldn't mind having one some day.

IMG_5003Large.jpg

Well, Bob's got me flustered now but here's a few more pics.........starting with some topless ones.......:D

The proportions are a bit off for my taste but I bet if you were behind the wheel with the wind in your hair you'd still be having a blast...

IMG_4992Large.jpg

Not crazy about the wheels on this PU but hey, flat black, slammed and topless is pretty cool no matter what it's rolling on......

IMG_4988Large.jpg

Another one for Tripper.......

IMG_4984Large.jpg

Nice 'Red Bird'.....

IMG_4981Large.jpg

IMG_4939Large.jpg

This T-Bucket was showing some age and was running a little 273 Dodge V8

IMG_4940Large.jpg

And here's one of my favorite ragtops ever! A friend of mine built this '53 mild custom when he was in college.....in about 1959! It's had several power plants over the years but is currently running a built 327 and a 700R4

IMG_4929Large.jpg

He also acquired this '40 Chevy coupe survivor a couple years ago......

IMG_4930Large.jpg

It runs a 389 Tri-Power, four speed and wears 35+ year old paint.

IMG_4931Large.jpg

I've known the car for almost 40 years and was really surprised when my friend was able to talk the original builder into selling it.

Hang on for a few more pics.......

A nice barn fresh "Tripper Truck"......

IMG_4977Large.jpg

A loonnng Mach I......

IMG_4985Large.jpg

A short top 'Cuda.......

IMG_4989Large.jpg

A nice red fastback Mustang......

IMG_4991Large.jpg

And a nice red notch back.....

IMG_4980Large.jpg

I do love me a two door sedan!

IMG_4973Large.jpg

And what's not to love about a 'Chebby Taildragger'

IMG_5007Large.jpg

One of the fun events at this show involves students with exemplary attendance for the year. Some local car dealer donates a late model used car and the auto mechanics class goes over it and auto body class touches it up and details it......then the eligible students are all given a key and the one who can start the car wins it....

Dang, no luck.......

IMG_5018Large.jpg

How about this one?

IMG_5019Large.jpg

YES! (see clinched fists)

IMG_5020Large.jpg

Definitely a fun show with good participation from the students who use the proceeds to fund local, state and national VICA Club events.

I'm about finished but hang on and I'll post a few pics of the 'Dash Plaque' car in the first pic.......

So, what can I say about the car on the dash plaque? I spotted it immediately when I pulled in..........

IMG_4952Large.jpg

IMG_4955Large.jpg

It was pretty wild looking but the closer you got the more you seen.....like these crazy wheels with tough to access lug nuts.....

IMG_4956Large.jpg

Steering wheel barely sticking out of the dash......

IMG_4954Large.jpg

Springs that looked like helper springs off a pair of shocks......

IMG_4959Large.jpg

And 'Air Ride'............I use that term very loosely

IMG_4957Large.jpg

Radius rods made out of tie rod ends, fake zoomies and Big Block valve covers hiding a small block.......however the blower was functional.......

IMG_4953Large.jpg

Now, I'm not a fan of trailered cars but I admit that when this guy drove out of the show with his 'Air Ride' pumped up tight.........

IMG_5023Large.jpg

.....I was relieved to see him loading it on a trailer out back...........

IMG_5025Large.jpg

Okay, I have just a couple more pics..........are ya ready?
