I bought a bath tub

I pick up this 1958 Rambler American last weekend at a local show. It has 48000 original miles on it. It does have some trans issues but if you shift it by hand it works good. Think its a valve body issue. It has a 195 flat head 6 with a flash-o-matic three speed.

Not sure what I am going to do to it. But first some wheels and tires. Was thinking maybe later a straight axle and a 9 inch rear and a drive train. And maybe call it RAT GAS. But for now I am going to drive it.

Also last weekend traded my 40 Ford for a 1936 Ford pickup project and some cash. Just waiting for it to be delivered.

Is the rear axle in the stock location?

I remember one of these rusting away on our farm in Idaho. I wanted to do something with it but to my dad it was just an old pile.

Wish I had it now.....

Like the wheels, gives it a gasser kinda look

As some of you know the Rambler was hit early this year. I decide to keep it and been making some changes on it.

I added a rear push bumper, Bucket seats with 5 point safety harnesses (pictures) and a grant black foam steering wheel, 5 inch tach on the dash, Removed the heater box and closed in the holes in the fire wall. A B&M floor mounted shifter (That was a lot of work)Will add pictures later.

Plan on machining the head for a three carb setup. and a straight axle under the front.
