i just found a 53 desoto powermaster that i want to buy and im wondering how i would go about lowering it. i want to lower it maybe 2-3 inches in the front and 3-4 inches rear. by doing this will i affect tire angle?

I assume they are coil in front, not torsion bars. So 1 1/2 coils cut on front and 3" blocks in rear should leave you plenty of room without affecting angles. Remember this though, the car will "settle" in after driving a couple times so if you think it's not enough, wait till it settles before cutting any more.

It's not unsafe to cut coil springs. Just make sure to use a cut off wheel instead of a torch. You might want to start with just removing one coil at first, once you cut too much off, it's too late and you'll have to replace the springs.

so i just cut one coil up from the bottom or one down from the top? in line with the end of the spring?
