My MIG has issues

That’s funny, I’ve dipped 7018 rods in water to make them weld better! Seemed like it cooled the puddle down a bit and I didn’t get as much blow through. May have just been my imagination, too.

When I learned to stick weld by trial and error when I was 16. My dad told me to go out, soak some of his rods and turn up the welder all the way ( Century 110v buzz box so 100 amps or so. Cant remember ) and burn the top out of a 55 gallon drum. I had never welded before that day. I ended up cutting the top off in sections and then welded it back up. I burned nearly all of his 3/32” 6013 that day and he couldn’t figure out what took me so long
