Hey Guys,

the day after thanksgiving i got the ok, from my customer to start on his 1946 ford p.u. build, nothing too different from most fenderless rods 'cept this one will have paint.

my customer wants it the new green thats on the chevy camaro's its a pretty sharp color so i thought i'd accent it with some pearl white and lime squeezer roth flake on the roof, but i think im getting ahead of my self a bit.

heres some pics of the frame to start off this build.

made some headlight/shock mounts similar to the ones from speedway,

and buy the way if you guys are in the market for a plasma cutter, i bought one last year from harbor frieght, now i know what your thinkin, but this thing is awesome, it was $600.00 runs off of 220 and cuts 1 inch thick metal i'll show some examples for anyone who's thinkin of buyin one later on in the build. normally i am a sceptic of harbor frieght tools too but i have to admit i was impressed with this one.

more tommorrow nite.

NICE!! im really interested in seeing more pics. im lookin to making some sort of shock mount myself for my front coil overs. yours look great! now ,why kickup the frame in the front? ground clearence? I have the front kick up to. I thought about cutting it off along with the independant susp and replacing it with a straight frame and spring over frontend. I dont know if $$$$ permits it! so i guess im wondering, whats the advantages either way. LOOKS LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING!!![P[P[P

waitn on speedway.

Thanks to all,
2nd gear, the reason for the kickup in the front is to accomodate the extra height of the buggy spring on top of the straight axle, with out the kick up the nose would be gasser high, NOW thats not bad and the next build i'm doing is going to be just that, a gasser pickup.
well while i was a waitn on speedway i decided to start on the floor of the cab then the dash.

i channeled the floor 6 inches and am removing 2 inches off the bottom of the cab, as well as re-designing the cowl area and firewall i want to accomplish a little smoothing out of the area where the front fenders used to attach. and also taking some off the bottom will streamline it and give it more of a car height i hope. the last is of the frame painted with the pearl white over a white base, the holes in the frame will be the same green as the wheel.

dash

heres some pics of the new dash. i took 9 inches out of the center of the donor dash.

CAN ANYONE I.D. IT? i'll give ya a hint its 1960 something haha

the center section i took out i turned into a swivel radio pod.

then i started on the sides for the cowl area, bead rolled a pattern into some 20 gauge, and used a shrinker to get the 90* radius curve on the bottoms.

firewall

a few shots of the firewall, and YEAH SPEEDWAY ARRIVED!! right in the middle of this.
so last weekend we thrashed on it to get it to moch up stage, befor taking it back apart for paint on frame and the parts.
should have a pretty nice stance.

The customers whole idea for this build was to make it more like a high boy roadster, instead of a slammed chopped rod like most ive built.

You did a good job on the cleaning up cowling. These trucks often don't look right fenderless because of the recesses, and you helped that out a bunch. Nice work.
