I'm lucky enough to have my dad around who was a 50's rodder. He says it was just like anything other rod/custom accessory of the time. Some people liked and had them and some people didn't. He did state that they were illegal by that time so running them was precarious and more people would have used them had they been legal. According to him, having a hot rod at the time more or less labeled you as a punk in his area. He loves blue dots. He's mad at me because I'm removing them from my Mercury.
