power programmers and Diagnostic scanners

hey i was wondering if anybody knew anything about power programmers and Diagnostic scanners and if you can get a two in one or something like that it would be nice to find out what is wrong with my pickup without having to take it to the mechanic shop and a little more power would be great

From what I know a programmer and scanner are two seperate things. A scanner will only pull codes, scan diagnostics or be used as a scope. However if ya know someone with some computer skills you can use a laptop to download a program and use the laptop as a scanner and to install updated info into your vehicles computer. I've seen it done but I'm too computer challanged to know exactlly how it is done.
