This car is already built, but I thought I would show the progression of the work. I started Dec. 1,2011. Had it on the road June 15, 2012.
I put almost 6000 miles on it before it got too cold to drive it. The build started on paper. I spent about a month planning the build. I started building and the suspension brackets.

Thanks guys. I retired from the Ironworkers in 2007. I was a certified welder. I have been fabricating my whole life, so this fabrication was second nature. Don, I have seen your stuff on this and other forums, so your compliment really means something to me.

1927 roadster continued

Hung rear end. Fabbed rear bolt-on clip for body support and rear nerf. Fabbed headers and radiator mounts and tacked up steering box bracket. Made exhaust. Bent up rollbars.
That's me going VROOM VROOM.
Got the body painted and the chassis back from powdercoat.

Solid walnut dash and gauges. I installed a temporary gray interior to get me through the summer. The car is now at the upholstery shop getting a professional, bright red tuck and roll interior. That will be the only thing not done in my shop.
THE END.

Hi oldracer22

I assume you used to race roundy rounds...are these rat rods as much fun as the stock cars were??....Do you get the same adrenaline rush as when they drop the green flag and everybody flys off into turn 1 side by side???
Just wondering because I sold everyone (oval track racer cars) this past fall...kinda wondering if I will get the same feelings from a rat rod on the street.

Your ride looks awesome by the way...

MikeC

Thank you, Neverdone. The tires are 195/60 front and 295/50 rear. I am thinking of going to some pie crust cheater slicks on the rear. Maybe another 1" or 2" taller, to give it just a bit more forward rake.

Mikec4193, Yes I have raced something or another my whole life. My son now races non-wing sprint cars. When I first started driving the hotrod, I got a pretty good adrenaline rush. I even took it to the dragstrip at Bunkerhill once this year. As the summer went on the rush kind of went away, so this fall I took out the 350 and almost doubled the horsepower with a 383. The rush is back. The thing will burn the tires at 60 mph now. The feeling is akin to racing, but there is nothing like the drop of the green. I miss that! But I do enjoy all the looks and thumbs up the rod gets when I drive down the road.
