six bangers .?? 235s. 250s and 292s

Buddy of mine ..
Gave me a parts truck..
53 chevy..
He thinks ??? It's 250 motor..
He knows it used to have a 235 in it..
But thinks his dad swapped it to a 250.
Years ago..
Whats sad is...
Someone's stored fertilizer in the cab ?!?!???[S
Why ?
Pretty much everything is gone except the short bed and motor and three speed.
How do i tell what motor it is ???.

Anyhoo...
My first car was a 48 chevy pickup.
Had a 216 in it..
Gave fifty bucks for it...
Drove it quite awhile. .
Till some no good worm stole it out of the school parking lot. When i went to watch a basket ball game ..
I loved that truck. It only had three short comings. .
Motor could have been a little stronger.
But it did have a mountain of torque. .
Geared too low.
And the half ton would drag the rear bumper if you tried to haul too much in it.
And of course, us boys would load her down to the hilt..
Pop would say.. don't worries about the mules!! Load the wagon !!
(And we did)
Sooooo...
Looking like next project is (i bought old irons 50 chevy)
Build A 3/4 ton short bed.
Higher gears, granny low four.
Souped up 250 or 292 ?
Be my dream farm truck.
From my misspent youth..
