stuff today

worked on getting the sharp edges covered up, went to the cruz last night and a bunch of people were sitting in her so l figured better fix the pointy parts. old truck aluminum cap rails work great.

garage door locks work fine, door stays shut and is tight in the jamb.

seems to be a hit, half of the crowd said paint & the other half says leave it alone and clear coat it.

nerf-bar

got the nerf-bar welded and bolted in, finished the rear bars to the main cage.,,,,,,,the way it wraps around the "fender" area cleans up that big space behind the rear tires.

looks

looks mean[dr

to answer the people who have been asking me about plans for the 'look' of the car when finished.

it's a bummer l have to wait so long to get it painted. l have some left-over stuff from the roadsters about 5 years ago. there's about a gallon of viper red & 3/4 gallon of corvette red l a planning on using. there is a lot of body work, but l am hoping to get to it within the next month or so.

she will have my sponsors names with there business names or custom logos they are having made at one of the graphic shops. also having hand painted graphics on her by the man who did the the lettering on the 3Oish. he is planning on the number 7 & some lettering/pinstriping to advertise his stuff.

Cool how that little bit of nerf-bar around the back just "finished" the look. Brought it all together. [cl

I was waiting to see how you were going to take care of the rear fender area [cl
I bet you do get a lot of attention at the shows

things

l got the power steering working, all l had to do was change the pump, trying to drive the monster with out it was killing me and it handled like a sinking row boat.

brake are now good thanks to putting in some residual valves.

local

local trade school car show tonight, had a blast, they had a man lift, took some aerial pictures.

driving with my helmet and googles on, drove by 3 local PD, never even looked twice, l guess there getting used to my junk.

lots more things to do though, will start the floor/firewall soon. weird driving a car with nothing much between you and the motor. windshield is a must but have to wait for paint first.

It's really come together from where you started! Ain't mine, but I'd put the #'s and lettering right over the patina and call it done.

me too

l would love to clear it and leave it alone, BUT l have sponsors to answer to on this one. or as l call it 0PM (other peoples money) is involved, so she's gotta be painted.

on my limited budget the only way to get done was to get financial help, interstate batteries, a local tire store and several others helped a bunch and l am so thankful for them.....no help...no car.

l thank every one here who is following this build, still the best car site on the web.[cl[cl[cl

Brakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the so-so brakes gotta get upgrades.

the system is designed for a power booster and l have lived with the "brakes" long enough. l knew they might be marginal and l was correct.

solution: new factory style dual master cylinder & 7" power booster:D

if it ain't safe l won't drive it so the upgrade is the first thing on the list.

it stops 0K but l have to put a lot of pressure on the pedal and l want a good braking system on her.

the fun of building cars from the ground up, always a learning experience.

Nice upgrade, Skull. I still have the stock s10 (non power) brakes on the 39. I have yet to see how they will work in real life. This looks like the next step if needed.

power stuff

3 different makes of parts, 11 hours stretched out over 3 days and finally a power booster/master cylinder is on/in.

a guy who owns a brake repair shop want to redo all the lines in stainless for sponsorship, he has all the cool benders and end makers, taking it over in a week or two:D
