Has anyone else found themselves dealing with this issue?

I am sitting here at work and getting nothing done at all.

I think my employees think I have lost my mind.

I have spent the past couple of hours just BSing with them.

This is bad, I should go home before I make them any less effecient.

Luckily I am the boss and can leave.

The bad part is I feel bad making them stay and work.

Not so lucky is that I am the boss and cannot show summer weakness.

Perhaps it is all the hours I have put in lately.

Perhaps I just need a break.

Who knows, I think I am leaving soon.

Obvioulsy my thought process is flawed today, therefore I should leave...right?

Well I left. Stopped by a freinds shop for about 20 minutes to deliver some parts.

Got home, made lunch.

Recieved phone call from work.

One of my new employees was shot in the neck while inside the building.

What the Heck!!!!

Looks like someone was off in the woods behind the shop shooting off a gun.

They think it was an accident but they are looking for the suspect.

Kid is alive but can't move his legs.

He is on the way to the hospital.

I should have stayed at work.:(

If you would have stayed, that bullet would have been in your skull. Something told you to leave and you listened. I'm not religious, but this ones a no-brainer.

That's terrible for your employee and even the stupid kids.

Definitely the WOW story of the week. Tell your employee we are thinking of him. You might want to get some emotional counseling for everyone involved.

His mom is a dead beat so he was being raised by his uncle my shop foreman.

He had just finished his 2 year degree in criminal justice with a 4.0 and had just joined the Army.

He was supposed to go in this fall.

He joined to pay for his schooling, he was planning on being an engineer.

We hired him just for the summer as a laborer to clean up and just generally do whatever we assigned, mostly to help him out financially so he could buy a car.

Sad day for sure.

Sad for both him and the reckless kids who will most likely spend time in Juvy until they are 21.

Just sucks all the way around.

I am thinking there was a higher power at work here to keep you out of harms way. Same goes for your employee. It may seem bad now but I am sure that in some way this prevented something horrible in the future.

My prayers go out to him, you, and the rest of the employees.

It realy sucks to hear about someone that is working hard to better themself and something like this happens. hope he fairs better then what the doc's are saying stranger things have happened.

Heard from his uncle this morning.

They have not taken the bullet out as he currently has use of his arms and are afraid that removing it may cause worse paralysis.

Special surgeon is flying in today to see if it can be removed.

Aaron is really upbeat, said, "Well I guess I won't be going to boot camp but I can still go to college."

Everyone here is pretty traumatized so the grief counselers will be making a stop.

Thanks for everyone's support.

Sound like he is in good sprits given what has happened. I have been in construction for 24 years and luckly have only seen 2 fatalities. It has a way of changing your thinking the rest on your life.
