Thats right, i said kit car.

The kit consists of (1) pretty well rotten 1929 Willys leatherback coupe body, (1) 4x8 sheet of 16ga. steel, (1) box or band aids, (1) body hammer, (1) 4" grinder w/ countless cut off wheels, (1) plasma cutter(optional), a welder, and various peices of scrap metal laying around the shop.

The plan is to bring this baby back to life using only basic tools. Not a whole lot to work with, but Im ready for a challenge.

i think you've cut yourself short on the contents of your "kit"....maybe 2 boxes of band aids and some gauze and tape to cover those big "ouchies"!!:p

don't forget to keep us up to date on this one.....

That's a BIG project. Good luck with it. You'll get lots of moral support from the RRR guys & gals.

A little tin work...

The cowl vent still opened and closed, cept there was nothing left. I figure since this is destined to be a roadster i wouldnt need it.

The cowl sides were shot. So i started making new ones. The first one went pretty well, fingers crossed the second one will go even better. I dont have a bead roller, so i used a peice of 2x2x1/4 angle and a body hammer for the rounded body line. (wish i had an anvil) The rest of the bends were made with my old brake.

well got the cowl sides on, and sprayed it with some rust converter.

I still have some areas to work on, such as the holes in the corners of the cowl, and the windshield posts. Im really not sure what direction i am going with the windshield yet...

Mad Respect!!

Going to the Fall Swap in Barrie, ON. with my best friend tomorrow (Saturday).

Looks like you Upstate New Yaakers have about the same rust belt bulls#!t to deal with that we have here in So. On.:D

Best of luck, either way it goes with this one!

Regards,
Shea:)

Wow, looks like a real car again! Very cool.

How did you form the top of the doors to match the beltline of the car?

i took a 2x4 and sanded it down so it matched the inside of the body line. Then i took the steel and wrapped it around by hand. then when i got the roll in the steel i put it in my brake and bent it back at the top and bottom of the radius.

Make sense?
